The staff are generally very efficient and friendly and the views from both the dining area and the breakfast room are stunning. if disabled be careful with the shower/bath as although there are bath mats the bath surface is very slippery and one should be careful getting in and out. Very well located if you wish to explore Skye being only 3 miles from the Skye Bridge.

Room Tip: If you get a room facong the front there is a wonderful view looking over Loch Alsh to Skye and Glen...

This is a good tourist hotel - yes, there are coach parties sometimes, but the staff seem to cope. The rooms in the 'new wing' are, on the ground floor at least, spacious and very clean and the servicing was good. There is a deck outside these rooms where it is pleasant to sit on a warm evening. This is NW Scotland, so some weathering of the property is inevitable - to keep it pristine would be a never ending task. To my eye it was clean and presentable. The restaurant served good food at normal prices and the wines were very fairly priced. It would be a pleasure to return.

Room Tip: If quiet is a priority it might be better to ask for an upper floor room in the 'new' wing...

The Balmacara hosted my daughter's reception following her magical wedding at the Eilean Donan Castle. Helen and her staff treated us wonderfully. The food was fantastic, the accomodations excellent, and most of all the people working at the Balmacara were awesome. Between Helen, Elaine, Arthur and all the rest, they made our visit extra special. I can't say enough about how well we were treated by the Balmacara.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room Number 2. It was very, very nice. Thanks again Helen for all you did to make this...

We held our son's wedding and were delighted with the warm welcome and excellent reception.
The staff were very welcoming and did the best to make it a very special day.We had booked all the rooms and althought some were a little dated, everything was very clean and the surrounding scenery made up for any shortfall. This hotel is in a fab location for a wedding at Eilean Donan Castle and everything was done to make the day such a success. A special mention to the manager and staff who worked late into the night and then were up bright & early for breakfast .
The dining room has large windows looking out onto Loch Duich and the view is unsurpassed. A lovely touch was a group of local children & adults to greet the Bride & Groom after the ceremony with lots of rose petals. We found the bar food good and the wedding meal was excellent. Would definately recommend as an ideal wedding venue. Thanks again....

Room Tip: Lovely views from the front rooms. Some rooms are bigger than others but the only family room was q...

Having read the some of the reviews below I'm surprised we are talking about the same place! I stayed here on a 1 night business trip and was given a friendly welcome on check in. The room was small but had all the amenities I needed and for the price I paid online of only £40 it really was a fantastic bargain. Free wifi is available, although you have to strategically position yourself outside the office.

Breakfast the next day was really good and there are fantastic views over the sea. Someone had mentioned the staff barely speak the lingo - well most of the staff I encountered were Scottish except at breakfast and these guys spoke great English too. The staff really couldn't have tried any harder.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for a no-thrills hotel - at the price it is what you expect and the staff and breakfast really make this hotel stand out. I will definitely stay there when I'm their on business next.

By the time we had reached this place we too tired and hungry to go any further, but it really wasn't worth the stop. The hotel restaurant only had tables if booked (even though we arrived an about 8.30 and the place was almost empty) and the public bar was more like a church hall that happened to have a bar at one side. Our food arrived quickly (further proof that the kitchen really wasn't that rushed) and was reasonable and overly expensive. It would have been difficult to feel that welcome here - the place was empty and cold, with the wood-burner occasionally being stoked up by the barman with some cardboard boxes from behind the bar!

A real pity as this is in a lovely location and I'm sure it could be a great place.

Arrived unexpectedly and staff were very helpful and accomodating. The twin room was very clean and bedlinen spotless. The ensuite bathroom was also immaculate. Furniture was a bit old fashioned and the decked patio area outside the bedroom was in need of a good scrub and paint, but overall it was comfortable.
The television was tiny by today's standards, a portable which was difficult to see in what was a genourously proportioned room. Tea and coffee making facilities were satisfactory. Breakfast was served by friendly staff but the choices were a bit ordinary. Good that there was a vegetarian choice though.
The location of this hotel is excellent and it is a good base for exploring the area.

Room Tip: Phone ahead and ask for the radiators to be switched on.
