Not much is needed to express how brilliant the stay here was. The beds are like lying on clouds, the owners are delightful and the area surrounding the Guesthouse is beautiful... we dropped lucky on finding this Gem and we can' wait to go back again!!

Our best venue on our week long tour of Scotland. Perfect setting and atmosphere of the quaint guesthouse. Views from the room over the loch were lovely even from lying on the bed.
Good comms via email prior to booking which helped us decide on room choice and also assisted us with local restaurants for dining out.

Quirky welcome on arrival from the elder gentleman who took us up and showed us the room. Room was perfect. Really couldn’t find fault with it. Well furnished and no scrimping on decor, furnishings or bedding. The bed was a dream. So comfy and quality down duvet/pillows that I wanted to fit in my case the next morning if I could have gotten away with it.
Lovely modern bathroom included a bath which I wish I had, had more time to relax in with a glass of wine.
Free approx 8Mb Wi-Fi in the room which was good in assisting our planning for the next leg of our journey and checking out specific weather/road details.
Conservatory/Sunroom area for breakfast was lovely setting and breakfast was superb. Great choice of fresh and cooked options. Full breakfast freshly prepared with quality black pudding was a great start to the day.
Will make a point of returning to stay !

Room Tip: Room 8 upstairs overlooking the loch.

Stayed here for one night in September on a trip to Scotland to view Eilean Donan Castle. Fabulous location set off the main road with amazing views of Loch Alsh and the Isle of Skye. The room we stayed in was like a boutique style hotel, fabulous comfy beds, free wifi, stunning bathroom with amazing little touches, room only had a window in the roof at head height but we could still enjoy the fabulous views. Breakfast next morning was delicious with the best porridge I have ever tasted. Balmacara Main an ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle of every day life that we all should experience.

We stayed here on the 15th. and 16th. September. while visiting the Kyle/Plockton area. Lovely accommodation in tastefully furnished, well appointed rooms. Rooms 3. and 1 were used, both were good if you have mobility issues. We found all the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious and there was a good choice. The house is situated off the main road and has lovely views of the loch. Our first visit here hope to come back sometime. Blair Thomson.

We stayed 3 nights as this fantastic guest house. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. We stayed in room five and despite only having a roof window at head height the views are simply amazing. The staff were all very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast menu was superbb and set us up for our day ahead. Our room was very modern, clean and quite spacious with a king size bed that was very comfortable. Free wifi was also available.
Thanks for a very comfortable and relaxing stay. If you dont want to stay on Skye then this place is brilliant. We would definitely return if in the area again.

Stayed two nights at Balmacara Mains during an extended tour of the Highlands and loved it. Wonderfully situated house with great views and lots of good walking nearby. Congenial host and friendly, accommodating staff; excellent breakfast; spacious, well-cared for rooms, and nice places to sit elsewhere in the house. Balmacara Mains is well worth the price and highly recommended. We had a ground floor room with porch -- consider staying upstairs if you don't want to hear the people above. And, spring for a taxi to avoid the drive and enjoy excellent food and drink at both the Plockton Shores and the Plockton Inn.
