This is in a lovely spot between Lochalsh and Plockton. A group of us stayed on business. If you want to be in the thick of things, don't come to this hotel...it's in the thick of nothing. That would be one of its charms.
The couple that run it couldn't be more friendly and helpful...although it seems to be run more like a hobby than a business. There aren't many staff and, if I remember rightly, some nights you can't even get food...unless it's a take-away.
Decor wise, the main restaurant and bar areas are a bit tired. There are lots of horse racing bits and bobs around.
The large lounge is comfortable...this was the only place I could get wi-fi. There is plenty of reading material though.
The views out towards Skye (?) are stunning if the weather is good.

What a lovely hotel. We couldn't believe our eyes when we arrived at Tingle Creek. The reception was really friendly and we were informed of places nearby that we could visit. The location is just awesome and it seem al the sorrows of the world does not exist. We chose Tingle Creek because if its location and was not disappointed. We enjoyed a lovely dinner. We triend the Haggis starter served with wiskey and decided to have haggis again.

We spent a lovely night at the Tingle Creek - and wished it could be longer. Lovely food, comfortable accommodation and a warm welcome for the doggies and the teenagers. Beautiful surroundings and a lovely host. We will be back.

Have just returned from TC. What a delight to find a modest organised family run hotel in a beautiful location. Food was really good. The waiters neat, professional and honestly pleasant. No large television set blaring out, just peace and quiet. Living in Caithness we are no strangers to beautiful scenery and real life. Thank you. LAN148

Room Tip: On booking best to ask for a view of the sea.

Stayed for 2 nights with a group of 12. The hotel faces a quiet bay a few miles outside Kyle of Lochalsh. It is well placed for exploring the north-west coast or Isle of Skye.

There are no leisure facilities but if you are looking for a place to relax after a long day enjoying the countryside, this hotel provides a good environment and comfortable beds.

The bar has a very wide range of single malt whisky. The restaurant has a reasonable choice of local dishes for dinner. Breakfast is excellent.

You will find the standard highland hotel tartan carpets and scottish music playing in the background. What singles this hotel out is the friendly and helpful staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a bath as some only have showers.

We booked a 4 night stay at the Tingle Creek in early June and whilst there enjoyed it so much we wanted to stay a further night. Unfortunately, the hotel was fully booked but the staff were a great help in finding us alternative accommodation. We found the recently refurbished rooms to be of excellent standard and really comfortable. We would have preferred a room with a sea view as the hotel is in a fantastic spot, but can't complain about the one we had. We had evening meals at the hotel on 3 of the 4 nights of our stay and thought every one was of very good quality as was breakfast. The bar area was spacious and comfortable and the mrs took particular advantage of the large range of single malts on offer whilst enjoying some stunning sunsets! Every member of staff was very attentive and could not have been more helpful in assisting us with some business matters. All in all, it's the best hotel we've stayed at in the area and we wouldn't hesitate to return on our next visit.

Room Tip: Book early and ask for a sea view

My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights ,3rd ,4th July.I cant really find a negative point at all. Beautiful setting, Gorgeous rooms . Fantastic Breakfast to set us on out way for our trips over to Skye . Just wish we could of sampled there meals at night .But the days we were there were the days the restuarant was closed .My husband loved the story of how the hoyel came by its name ,being a racing fan. Maybe i should bring him for a stay next time .

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the Bay
