We booked this hotel as a base of operations to explore the parts of Japan around Hakone, and for this it was great...However...it is (understandably) geared more for Japanese than Westerners. Our room had nowhere to sit down other than perched on the end of the bed, the end of a huge couch-with-no-back, or cross legged around the table on the tatami mats. Super uncomfortable for us Westerners! Made it hard to keep up with the eMails without anywhere to sit and concentrate!

In most other respects it was great!... except:
Beware the lunch buffet - it is eye-wateringly expensive...and.... unbelievably, does NOT include fruit juices - for that you have to buy a special add-on drink package!! Come on guys, when you are paying almost $70 for lunch, a fruit juice costs far less than $1 to supply. Attitudes like this are only perceived as being ridiculously penny-pinching and ultimately give bad publicity (like this!). Stop this practice immediately! It's crazy to be allowed to eat as many expensive looking desserts as you like, but not to have a single orange juice? What are you thinking?

The Spa and Swimming pool look OK, although we never got the chance to try them because rather than stick around and be gouged by the insane charges for things, we went elsewhere!

There is a well stocked shop selling all sort of souvenirs and food, so that helps!

Booked this hotel for its proximity to Hakone / Lake Ashi. However, getting to this is a bit of a trek, as you have to wait for the (relatively irregular) hotel bus to take you to Nebukawa Station (the bus was not running to Odawara due to "traffic congestion"), and then wait ages for a local train to take you to Odawara. I suggest you look for a hotel in Odawara or Hakone itself if you are only staying one or two days. Breakfast was also not quite up to the standard of a five star hotel for Western visitors. Beware that room service stops at 9pm, which is no use if you come back late from Hakone / Odawara.

The property it is settled up in the hills, with a beautifull Pacífic ocean view.
The rooms are old japanese style, with a futton bad, very clean and cosy.
I have dinner at the buffet , sushis , tempuras ....all fresh and tastefull ....although a little bit priced and the service confused.
The staff could be more friendly...this is the weak point...
A very few english speakers ....trying to comunicate through mimic ....sometimes rude .
I confess that I felt very disapointed ...for a Hilton resort and Spa I expected a more polited and professional aproach in general by the staffs.
My money goes wherever people treat me well...
And this Hilton did not .

This hotel was at the right place with the right services for my wife to relax with spa and hot springs and also close to Hakone to do the tour.

Mr. Aziz was aware of our arrival (thanks to Alex from Japan Odaiba Hilton) and we could benefit from an upgrade that was definitely worth it as you can see below, including access to the Ocean lounge.

That hotel is a pure family resort with all you need for the whole family; swimming pools in and outdoor, driving range, table tennis, karaoke, amusement, you name it. This was great for us as it is mainly local people staying there and less “business” hence you won’t e.g. get a full serviced Executive Lounge but as a Diamond member I did get a fantastic service and appreciated what the hotel can deliver.

Let me also highlight the food both in restaurant or in room… good quality nothing to complain about and top notch service!

Thanks to all for this flawless stay and Mr. Aziz great advice around best managing our time with a typhoon next door!

We loved our time in Hilton Odawara and recommend with no restriction.

We stayed in the junior suite which was kept immaculately. The views were exceptional. We also had access to the ocean lounge which includes alcohol and food between 1700-2000 - there were tasty niblets like pickles and olives, as well as more substantial items like breaded fish and a beef casserole (this acted as our dinner!).

The real highlight for me was the pool, which is in a dome building and has windows all around so that you can enjoy the views while you swim; there is also an outdoor pool section. There are steam and dry saunas as well as traditional Japanese baths.

It took rather longer to get to Hakone than I expected as you need to first get the shuttle bus to Nebukawa Station (provided by the hotel, takes a few mins) then the train to Odawara, then a bus - door to door took a few hours, so bear this in mind.

It is only about 1.8km from Nebukawa Station to the hotel and we were initially thinking of walking it however it is very steep, so I would take advantage of the free shuttle bus particularly if you have luggage, which runs incredibly regularly.

Breakfast was a massive buffet with a fantastic amount of options, all delicious.
