Kamogawa Sea World is located just in front of the beach. It`s a great and refreshing location. A cool getaway from Tokyo and quick to reach if you have a car. I really enjoyed the orca show and the interaction of the trainers with the orcas. It seems they really care for their whales. The aera is quite big with lots of aquariums, sea animals and so on. The highlight is definitely the orce show! It`s one of the few places on earth you can see the whales in an aquarium and they are well cared for it seems. And of course the scenery and location is just great. A super getaway from Tokyo for a day or two!

This aquarium, while being one of the only aquariums in Japan to feature orcas (killer whales) is a far cry from the Sea Worlds overseas. The facilities look extremely run down and poorly maintained, the animals seem to have fungal infections and growths on them (even the Sun Fish mascot, in its own private tank, had serious mouth rot), and the food is expensive (as is to be expected I suppose. Never been to a theme park with cheap food.) The drive out from Tokyo is also long and expensive. My advice, skip this one and go to Hakkeijima Sea Paradise instead. Much closer to Tokyo with much better facilities and healthier, happier looking animals.

Kamogawa Sea world is quite a nice place to visit. There are quite a large number of sea creatures in this aquarium. The aquarium is nicely decorated.

The best thing is the performances by the Sea World. Those include Dolphins, Killer Whale, Seals and Beluga. The best performance for me is the Killer Whale performance. The interaction of the trainers and the killer whales are just pure awesome. Double thumbs up!!!

One more thing, its at the seaside, facing the endless Pacific Ocean. Other than enjoying the aquarium, looking beyond the deep blue sea is one great thing to enjoy over here.

We started our Vacations in Japan this September, 2012 with a visit to Kamogawa Sea World. What a lovely and refreshing start it was. Sea World is just "on" the Pacific Ocean, the ocean looking like an extension of it into the far horizons beyond. Thousands of sea creatures are there to look at and be amazed, from giants ones to very small, full of colours and intricate patterns. My favourite were jelly fish. Sea World exhibits four different shows. The white Beluga whales are so cute...they bow to the audience in Japanese style before performing. The shiny dolphins dance to the music and perform many other interesting tricks. The Orca, killer whales have their own spectacular shows and their performance is held in the open just beside the ocean. The cool ocean breeze, the waves crashing in and the Dolphins performing, all blend naturally to create a very relaxing environment. They splash water deliberately to wet the audience close to their pond. The way they make their trainers stand on the tip of their mouths is amazing. Seals are the jokers who perform funny small skits and are worth watching...one can't help having good laughs; they are very cute. We also saw giant old turtles in the open pools beside the ocean. It was an excellent trip. Kamogawa Sea World is a must visit when being in Tokyo or Chiba. It is in Chiba prefecture and from Tokyo Station it is a two hour journey. One must first check the timings of the different shows and then visit the aquariums and other areas in between the shows. Sea World is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
