I can't rave about this place enough, it is beautiful and a nice night out.
Traveling there is a little more difficult for tourists, as it involves multiple trains and buses and can be confusing.
Tokyo German village will take over an hour to venture around and there is a lot to see. It has shops and restaurants aside the spectacular lights. A popular sweet was their illuminated lollipops.
There is a light show which the lights turn on and off to music, and bubbles and other effects wow the crowds.
Spectacular.

I have visited the German village once with a tour and once with my family. It's a great place to getaway from cramped Tokyo for the day with the family and enjoy some open space, greenery and nice views. I especially was happy with the price per carload for entry fee rather than the price per person. There is a neat little petting zoo/farm animal zoo, putt putt golf, zip-lines and a little amuzement park with a sliding hill and some little kiddie rides as well as a hill covered with seasonal flowers you can walk up and down. There is a little German themed *village* with restaurants and various events throughout the year. I have been in the spring and the fall and unfortuntely too early for the illumination, but would love to go there for the illumination sometime. The restaurant was a bit of a disappointment if you are expecting authentic German food...expensive and very suited to Japanese run of the mill amuzement park fare...your typical Jingus Kan BBQ, curry rice, and cabbage rolls that resemble the frozen variety you buy in cheap supermarkets..there is sausage and beer but very pricey. There was a bread shop there which had some varieties hard to find in Japan but be willing to pay a lot! I would recommend bringing your own food and enjoying a picnic on the lush green lawn instead and maybe treat yourself and your family to some of the other things the park has to offer instead.

The village is huge with lots of open green space. There is also a putter golf course where kids and adults can enjoy. The Marktplatz (market place) offers delicious German sausages and beer as well as sweets.
