I am sure Hakusan is the place to be in winter. However we visited in August, therefore therefore it was very quiet. I hchirino is relatively old. A refurbishment is required. The staff spoke minimal English. They were helpful.
There were pamphlets of the sister hotel 30 minutes drive up the road where there is a natural onsen open to guests. We were sent there by the staff to find that the sister hotel is so run down it looked like a haunted building. The lobby stank of mould, so , we did not venture into the building.
The dinners and breakfasts were good.
The onse was fine. The water is of very good quality as it is directly from the mountains.More
