“Chaotic to say the least”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2012

We arrived Sunday 15th April around 12.30 - we were told could not check in until 2pm as rooms not ready we had 2 rooms booked - as we sat in the bar we saw multiple people checking in - we asked twice and were again told we couldn't check in as rooms not ready. We understood it was busy as was a match day. At 2pm a queue formed and we were 3 from the front - only 2 girls were on reception -this when at 12.30 there were 3 and they had no-one booking in - no logic there!! We got one room allocated by the pleasant receptionist - she told her colleague not to take rm 406 as she was allocating this as our 2nd rm - when the tried to access this rm the colleague had taken it! it was now 2.20 - she then allocated rm 407 but had to wait for this to be cleared by the cleaning team - when this was cleared her colleague had taken this and allocated elsewhere as well - by this time it was 2.40 pm -why say check in is 2pm if there are no rooms ready? Needless to say by 2.45 I was getting extremely exasperated - we let the other party shower in our room- I then stood outside rm 412 and got housekeeping to collect the said key for the room from reception - it was 3pm by then - the room was not as clean as I would have expected from Premier Inns and there was a very heavy smoke smell. I am a regular Premier Inn customer and have never experienced anything like this. At night we returned to the hotel about 8.30 - there was a large birthday party going on for a 1 yr old (yes!) the toilets on the ground floor were appalling - there was not a sink that was not blocked up - this was very poor. The noise -beat-- from the disco could be heard in room 412 until the party finished very late -. Our room - 405 had high noise levels from the a/c - rooms need a lick of paint . The location is ideal for Old Trafford but there should be many more staff on in housekeeping & in reception - if necessary check out times on match days should be earlier & check in easier. 2 staff were nowhere near enough - there was still a huge queue at 3pm and kick off was at 4 - I am very disappointed.

From the start we found staff very helpful - allowed to book in to room @ 8 in the morn - breakfast a treat (kids eat free !!!) - fine menu for dinner with good offers for next morning - rooms clean with good view of old Trafford - staff extremely helpful - enjoyed my 2 days here - perfect location for trip to old Trafford and with bus stop outside the door to get to Trafford centre or city centre. Looked after our bags until evening time when we booked out. Only downer is that United won the match!!!!

Room Tip: look for the view of old trafford - lovely lit up at night time

We stayed there for a short Easter break to see the Manchester United Stadium and other attractions. The hotel is directly across the road from Manchester United Stadium.

It is kind of in the middle of an industrial estate - no shops or restaurants nearby. From the hotel it is easy to get a bus (X50) just outside direct to Trafford Centre (although we drove there) and to Piccadilly from which we also took the 33 bus to Museum of Science and Industry. The bus fare is reasonable. If you buy a day ticket from the bus driver that enables you to jump on any bus, it costs £10 in total and the ticket is valid for 2 adults and 3 children for the day. This is cheaper than dragging the car into town and looking for parking. Parking in the hotel was free and we left the car there after we had checked out while we took the bus into town.

During our visit we found it to be a very nice, clean pleasant place to stay. We had a family room for me, my husband and our eight year old son, which was spacious and very comfortable. Some hotels I can't wait to leave - but this was fine. There were some noisy inconsiderate guests on late on the second night but overall we had a pleasant and peaceful stay for the two nights we were there.

We paid for inclusive breakfast in the price of our booking. The breakfast had a very nice selection, even for a strict vegetarian like myself - they made me some vegetarian sausages and provided soya milk on request. The food menu is very good if you like that kind of food - my husband and son ate well there and the food looked well presented. I did have a risotto which tasted very nice and they were obliging enough to leave the cheese and other dressings off when asked, just as they were when I requested a plain jacket potato and basic salad with no dressings. The food is reasonably priced.

The staff were friendly and cordial without being too over the top or overly intrusive. When asked for local information about buses, etc, they were very helpful.

So all in all, if you are going to see Man U's stadium - this would be the best place to stay.

We stayed overnight here on a visit to Old Trafford Football ground and it couldnt be any closer. We have stayed at premier inns on several occasions and found them all to be different in as much as standards of cleanliness go.While we know Travel Inns are known to be budget hotels iv always found them to be very good value but although its "budget" they cannot afford to rest on there morals and i found this to be the case in this Premier Inn.The bedrooms were grubby and in real need of freshing up and the bar area was filthy, we arrived late aftnoon and went in for a bar snack but came back out as it just looked a mess. While this could have been caused by a busy turn before we arrived, it was empty when we went in and no one was attempting to clean up.The breakfast was fine and the staff were excellent but overall, not the best Travel Inn we have stayed in.

picked this hotel because we were doing the tour of Man Utd and it was close by. From the minute we checked in till we checked out they staff were FAb. Christian on the reception made my sons day by giving us a room that overlooked old Trafford. We eat in the hotel both nights we were there and we were looked after so well by Nikki. I work in a hotel so it is always fells like a busman's holiday for me when I go away and I always check everything out and can honestly say there was nothing I could fault with this hotel. the room was spotless, food great, we will be back

No doubt this hotel should be kept a secret for your nicest friends. Clean, lovely staff, nice food. Unexpected for such a great price and so much better than staying in town. Highly recommend.

Stayed in January with husband and 2 children as we were going to see Man Utd and so glad we picked this hotel. The location couldn't be any better as it's right across the road from Old Trafford and while it may not be in the city centre you're still only a bus ride away and there's a bus stop just outside. We arrived on the Friday night and although the match wasn't till Sunday lunch time it was great being so close to the stadium as we were able to do the Old Trafford tour on the Saturday morning which was really enjoyable for all of us. You could spend hours there!
The hotel itself is clean, modern, friendly and great value for money, from the moment we arrived till we left every member of staff made us feel so welcome, something which is great for the kids as they were really made to feel special. The manager is always there making sure things are running smoothly and does a fab job. The rooms are just as you'd expect from a Premier Inn, basic but sufficient, great value for money and comfy beds. Breakfast is also good value for money as kids eat free.
I wouldn't like to stay here on match day however, if I wasn't a supporter, as it does get very hectic obviously, but otherwise perfect really!
