“4weeks of brilliance”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2013

Recently stayed at CM for 4 weeks. The lodge is modern and stylish and well appointed. We were so well looked after by Marjolein and Paul, we felt quite at home. The staff are friendly and polite. There are rooms of varying sizes but all are excellent, modern and clean and comfortable.. The lounge is a welcoming place with lovely views down to the bay. - free wifi is available there. There is a well stocked fridge - beers and wines (honesty bar). Breakfast is excellent - the selection of coffees and bread are again superb. Marjolein and Paul were so helpful in advising of trips and make bookings at restaurants - nothing too much trouble. It is an excellent base for touring round the Western Cape. A car is essential. The location is fabulous with great views all around. The N2 road is only 3minutes away (approximately). Gordon's Bay is 7k away. The Cape, Capetown, Stellenbosch and Franchoek are an hour,s drive away on good well signposted roads. the Victoria and Alfred complex in Capetown is well worth visiting as are the colourful houses in Bo Kaap district. There is a cheetah sanctuary a few minutes away off the N2 - only 10 rand to enter - plus additions for contact with the animals.. A drive up Chapman Drive (toll road 33Rand) from Hout Bay is spectacularly wonderful. There is so much to do and see. Vergelegen and Waterskloof wineries are a must. There is a multitude of wineries to visit if you wish. The area must be one of the best places on earth to wine and dine. The degustation at Waterskloof was unbelievable. Prices in the area make you wonder why we pay so much in England.
South Africa, it's problems notwithstanding, is a most beautiful country and CM fits perfectly. I've forgotten to mention the wonderful Sabine and Jody two young Dutch women, who help in the lodge. JenPaul

Room Tip: Some rooms overlook the bay and others have views of the mountains

A great place to stay, beautifull rooms, nice lounge, perfect breakfast and a very good hospitality from all dutch people.
As golfers, winers and diners this was the perfect place to start from. We visited Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Arabella and Frans Hoek frome here.
We were at colourful Manour for 5 days, traveled to George and came back for another 3 days.
Never been to the area? Paul and Marjolein will help you finding all you look for during your hollidays.

We stayed at the Colourful Manor recently for 7 nights. It is an excellent guest house with modern and well equipped rooms. The hospitality of the owners is excellent and makes you feel very comfortable staying there. The area is great if you are looking to explore more than just the usual Cape Town. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: go for a sea view room for better view, size and room interiors.

We stayed for a couple of days at Colourful Manor. First of all, a great place to stay, beautifull rooms, nice lounge to relax and a very good hospitality of Paul and Marjolein. The view from the terrace was spectacular at any time of the day. Therefore a colourful view ! From the estate you can travel easily to all the beautiful places near Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Hermanus and last but not least the beaches nearby.

For 15 days we had a wonderfull stay in Colourful Manor, with our children and grandchildren.
We enjoyed the views on the mountains and the bay. We slept very well in the the comfortable rooms and enjoyed every day's breakfast. The swimmingpool was a great attraction specially for the children
The hospitality from the owners Marjolein and Paul and the staff Sabine and Marije make us all feel at ease.
The location is an excellent starting point for daytrips in the beautiful surroundings .
Colourful Manor is a perfect guesthouse for a relaxed holiday in South Africa.

Anneke and Aernout

Room Tip: The rooms with the sea view and the corner suites are large , comfortable and beautiful decorated.

This is a beautiful modern property, with very roomy stylish guest rooms, with lots of attention to detail. Lots of nice amenities to be found upon arrival. A very cosy feel. Great breakfasts, do have a huge latte, it's worth the tiny extra fee..
Paul and Marjolein are wonderful hosts, very good at finding the right time for a chat or leave you to yourself. They have very good suggestions for restaurants, things to do etc. It is very central in the region so a perfect base for your trips to Capetown, the winelands of Stellenbosch and Franschoek, but also for Hermanus and the Cape Peninsula. Lots of golfcourses in the area. And if you're into good food, do try the Waterkloof restaurant, it's amazing!
And don't forget to have a glass of wine either at your own terrace (go for the seaview) or the main terrace, great view of the bay with even Table Mountain in the background!
