In a lovely village with walks a plenty. Interesting history, boards clear to read and lovely grounds for a picnic

This is a lovely castle in the village of Grosmont. Its one of the famous three castles in the area, there's White, Skenfrith and Grosmont Castle in the same area and could do them all in one day as they are so close together. Grosmont, doesn't have a car park, so you do have to find somewhere in the village. It isn't as big as the other 2, but does have a fantastic tower. To add to this Castle there is a gorgeous tea shop over the road.

As castles go, this one was one of my poorer ones. Not much to explore, & not much in the way of views.

Grosmont is a really picturesque village with an interesting church and castle. The surrounding countryside is absolutely stunning too. It is a lovely day trip if you are visiting the English/Welsh border area, maybe for the food festival in Abergavenny (held in September each year) or the annual Hay Festival. Be sure to pop into the Gentle Jane café for the locally made ice creams which are the best I have tasted. The Bell at nearby Skenfrith, through the lanes is a lovely place for an evening meal with great food and a beautiful location on the river.
