“A truly lovely place”
Reviewed June 4, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

A most enjoyable break, the farmhouse was beautiful, spacious and all bedding and bed linen clean and fresh. The children really enjoyed exploring up the hill too the play area and then settling in the evening reading a selection of the books or playing games which were in the farmhouse. The area was great and central to explore Lynton, Lynmouth, Porlock or the coast. We would definitely go again!

Thank you for your great review. We are glad that you had a comfortable stay (and your dogs too - in front of the range in the kitchen is a great place for a doggy snooze).
The walks on Exmoor are spectacular and having an excellent pub just a short stroll away is a bonus.
We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

“Beautiful, spacious and relaxing”
Reviewed March 7, 2014 for a stay in February 2014

Really very lovely house - really spacious, lovely living room with a cosy woodburner, and free logs too! Excellent hosts, John came to see how we were getting on and was more than happy to answer all our no-doubt-boring questions about what to do in the local area. The house had a really warm atmosphere, the kids had a great time, it wasn't too prissy so it didn't feel like the kids couldnt touch stuff, but at the same time it was clean and tidy. We took four kids under age 7 and they had a fantastic time playing hide and seek in all the wonderful selection of cupboards throughout the house, and up in the back garden where it was really nice to let them roam free as there were no cars. Overall couldn't fault it.

“Perfect! Spacious and welcoming.”
Reviewed January 26, 2014 for a stay in January 2014

A beautiful, spacious farmhouse. First impressions were great, it was clean and tidy and very well-equipt. It had a lovely, homely feel about it and I particularly liked sitting in the armchair by the Rayburn... excellent spot for reading.

My children loved it, we only had a short stay but we settled in straight away. The welcome pack was great, generous enough to get started and keep us going until the shopping arrived. We made the most of the wood burner in the lounge, we all slept really well and were sad to leave.

There were lots of places to walk the dogs and the utility room was great for cleaning muddy paws and towelling them dry. There were plenty of places to put the dog beds. We hope to return for a longer stay.

“Best place on Exmoor to stay.”
Reviewed November 8, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

This was my 4th time staying here. I cannot recommend the cottage and location enough. It's very clean and spacious and meets all our requirements in terms of location, size, facilities and cost. Wisteria Cottage has such a homely feel to it. It now comes with Wi-Fi if you need it, but the beauty of staying here and in Exmoor is to escape the hustle and bustle of home, so i didn't really use it, but it's excellent that its provided. Also a major benefit is that dogs are welcome and I think its fair to say our dogs enjoyed themselves as much as we did.

Its location with Exmoor is ideal if you like long walks across the moors or a good beach walk with Woolacombe and Croyde no more than a 20 min drive. Also not even a 5 minute walk away is the best pub anywhere I've ever been. The Black Venus. The food and ales on offer there is superb.

Will definitely be coming back to Wisteria and would highly recommend it to anyone.

“Highly Recommended, perfect for exploring North Devon”
Reviewed September 30, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We have stayed at Town Tenement Farm on many occasions and The Farmhouse is our favourite cottage. It is spacious, comfortable and well appointed. It would accommodate 5/6 people easily but we also find it suits us (a couple) and our three, large, exuberant dogs perfectly. It has a pretty, enclosed garden which leads directly into the kitchen, with a warm range and easy clean floor, great for when you (and the dogs) are wet and muddy. The lounge is very large and airy and the wood-burner (logs provided), makes for cosy evenings. The cottage has a very useful utility room, with a washing machine and tumble dryer and also a downstairs toilet. Upstairs, the bedrooms are spacious, with plenty of cupboard space and the cottage has a bathroom and separate shower room. We have stayed here with friends and it is possible to both have a bedroom and bathroom at separate ends of the cottage so retaining a degree of privacy. The cottages are set in well- established grounds, very pretty and with a gentle hill walk where you can exercise the dogs.

Challacombe is a pretty village and we have found a number of lovely walks from the Farmhouse. The local pub, The Black Venus Inn, is a 5 minute walk away, serves truly excellent food, is staffed by very friendly people and is dog friendly. The local shop and post office is next door to the pub, sells a wide range of goods and the owners are very friendly. We pre-order groceries which are delivered to our cottage, ready for our arrival.

Melanie and John are excellent hosts, very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and will do anything to help. This is an excellent base for exploring North Devon, we can’t recommend it more highly. The countryside is breath-taking and the coast is a mere 20 minutes away. We want to move here!!!

Thank you for such a comprehensive review!
You and your 'exuberant' dogs are always welcome - especially your dog Rob who likes to sit on my lap!!!
The Black Venus is very well known for it's food and hospitality - we are very lucky to have it so close...no need to drive. The local shop is great too - grocery deliveries on arrival day can save a load of hassle.

We look forward to seeing you all next time.
