We were one of Emma and Tony’s first guests and we so impressed with the gîte and value for money that we’ve booked again in August 2018!
The one bedroom apartment is private, with your own front door and terrace at the rear. In the winter it was too cold to sit outside but we can’t wait to have coffee or wine out there in the summer. The river runs at the bottom of the garden and there is lots of wildlife to watch too. It’s just so relaxing!
The gîte is walking distance from the town centre which looks exactly like the pictures my French text-books from school haha! The church is just so massive and impressive - it’s jaw dropping! We also went to the market to buy fresh ingredients and because he gîte is entirely self-catering we cooked up a traditional French beef stew.
I can also highly recommend Le Globe by the bridge - they know Emma and Tony very well and we were well-fed and watered!
Life in Villefranche is just so relaxed. Rural France is just another world. You can leave all your troubles back in England and just enjoy the good wine and cheese.
Emma and Tony ensured there were toiletries available to save on baggage at the airport - just a small but thoughtful touch. Other little things like USB chargers... all thought of!
We were able to stream Netflix and we also completed the 1000 price jigsaw ;)
The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped.
We simply can’t wait to come back!
I was lucky enough, along with my husband, to be the first guests to stay here. The apartment, with it's own private entrance, is a good size, is comfortable and is incredibly well equipped - the owners have thought of everything (including a proper coffee machine). A bottle if wine is provided for your arrival. The bed is very comfortable.
It is very well situated - there is a garden at the front solely for the use of guests and a private balcony overlooking the huge garden at the rear, which leads down to the river. Simply lovely views and so relaxing.
The town is about a 10 minute walk away and is everything you could want if you are looking for a traditional old French Town. Lovely buildings, a sense of a time gone by, a great weekly market selling local goods and of course the very scenic river. There are some great places to eat too if you would rather not cook yourself (although the apartment has everything you need to self cater).
The owners are a very friendly, welcoming couple who are happy to help and as residents of the town can obviously direct you to all the best places.
A great place to stay.
The location is perfect for access to the town and the river. You can access the river path from the garden and walk into town. It is very close to the town, but in a quiet part of the town - it took perhaps 10 minutes to reach the centre square. The area feels very safe and is well lit at night - we felt very safe to walking to and from the apartment.
It is easy to find and there is parking outside.
We had our own garden and terrace/balcony which was peaceful and sunny. The apartment is bright and well lit, with big windows, and there are shutters to keep out the bright sunshine. The apartment is much bigger than it may appear in the photographs we think.
The owners were very kind. They helped with our questions about the town and recommended somewhere for lunch (Cafe du Globe - also recommended)
They have provided everything in the apartment from hair dressing equipment, shower gel and shampoo, to food and drink. There was wine, beer, fruit, sweets, chocolate all provided. We were pleased to have a coffee machine and cooking equipment, plus all the pots and pans we needed.
We felt very comfortable here. The bed is comfortable, there are lots of mirrors and storage space for clothes. There is a good shower, a kitchen and a comfortable settee in the salon. TV had Netflix and some other TV apps all included.
We were here for business but next time will come for a holiday. Thank you to Emma and Tony for their hospitality.
