During our week four of the Dolomites on the Via Ferrata, this was our first night after climbing the Rotwand Roda di Vael. We had a twin room on the top floor which was nice to have, but very small. It certainly looked better than the large dormitory. There was a lock on the door, but the bolt didn’t reach the latch so was useless, but I think was fairly safe given the environment in these Rifugios.
In this day of electronics, some basic charging facilities would be almost considered essential. There was one charging point in the corridor serving about 6 rooms. The dormitory may have had some, I don’t know.
Food was fine and plenty of it. Getting the salad starter was a bit of a scrum but otherwise was fine. At breakfast the following day, we noticed in the bar area there was a charging point for about 8 phones on the wall in the corner. This would have been useful to find the evening before.
Washing and toilet facilities we limited and often involved queueing. Showers were €3.
The Refugio was at the top of a chairlift up from Frommeralm and was generally very busy which was nice.
Good phone reception from the Refugio. Generally ok place.More
