We always stop at The Bafe when driving past. They do amazing food (spectacular cream donut mmm) and are very friendly

We were passing through the small town of Lumsden on a long cross country drive and needed some lunch. There wasn't much around on the main street so we weren't too hopeful when we stumbled across 'The Bafe'. I was lucky enough to snap up the last INCREDIBLE lamb pie and shortly after couldn't say no to a huge lemon curd and caramel doughnut with lashings of fresh cream. Both were so tasty they have motivated me to write my first Tripadvisor review!
The couple that owned the place were so friendly too and we chatted for some time about our hometowns before leaving our mark on the wall and getting some photos.
If you're in or near Lumsden, do not miss this place!

Will visit the opposition next time.
Need to be open to be vetted.
Very disappointed especially after reading the trip advisor reviews!!!
We are very sorry that we were closed during the xmas new year holiday time, but we needed a well deserved break as well.
Been a while since I visited Chris & Judy at the Bafe - took a young grandson, who had finished school for the holidays, for lunch. He had a ham sandwich & I had one of their freshly baked tasty pies. I suggested we share the one cream/jam do-nut but he assured me he could eat a whole one so Judy kindly prepared some more. Always good coffee & you can add your comments to the walls - & ceiling.
Can be found on your left as you drive thru Lumsden from Invercargill but from Gore you need to turn south. often the Bafe closes late afternoon - they run out of fresh food - they make great bread as well.
Doughnuts, pastries, sandwiches all top rate. All made in the shop! Great breads too! Good coffee and hot chocolate. Chris and Judy, the owners are great folks. A must visit any time passing through Lumsden, Worth a special trip too!
We stop in on every trip to New Zealand, can't miss the treats! Always something new to try on each visit.
