Stopped over for 1 night last May enroute to Southern France. Arrived on motorbikes and even before we dekitted there ws. Cold beer on the table. Lovely family style dining and entertainment, great food, would revisit without hesitation

Welcoming hospitality, food and accommodation. The location is peaceful and relaxing. The evening meal is made into a social occassion by Edward and Malcolm. The breakfast is also very good. It is a good location for touring the surrounding area. I would use this chambre d’hote again.

What a fantastic find Appleton's is. Malcolm and Edward are the perfect hosts with a very warm and friendly welcome, aperitifs before dinner, good wholesome and delicious homecooked food taken with your fellow guests and hosts, drinks included and much 'bon viveuer'. Having travelled around the world on many occasions, this is something special. Rooms are comfortable, with en-suite facilities, and you just cannot fault the enthusiasm and hosting skills of Malcolm and Edward, rarely have we experienced such hospitality and such a homely feeling. We honestly felt as if we were personal guests, no friends, of them. Our fellow guests were great fun too and dinner was a memorable experience. If you are thinking of exploring this area, or travelling to the South of France, make the time to have a break here. I defy anyone to say this is disappointing.

Terrific value for money and so charming.

Room Tip: Just enjoy the location for all it's worth

We had been recomended to stay with Malcolm and Edward from some friends who had stayed last year, we had a warm welcolm with offers of tea or coffee or as we accepted a beer and a glass of chiled white wine as soon as we steped out of our car.
Our room was the Rose Room on the first floor with splendid views of the garden and vegetable garden, we showered and sat outside under the pagola with more drinks offered, later we experienced the wonderful BBQ along wıth 2 other couples, we were warned not to feed Leo!!! This was our first nıght of 6, we ate 3 more times at Appletons as the food was great, company enjoyable and the price was less than in Argenton sur Creuse. Breakfast was so filling we didn't need too much lunch but were offerd space in the outside fridge as we had bought salads, chesse and bread and ate that in the garden when we weren't out and about.
Our bedding was changed on the 3rd day and towels drıed daily and changed also on the 3rd day.
We spent a few days relaxing in the garden and some driving around the Brenne national park, highly recomended for bird watchers, the lake at Eguzone is also a great place to swim and sail.
We were happy to hear of the no under 12 year olds policy that Malcolm and Edward are introducing and are going to definatly return.

My husband and I spent three nights at Appletons, while visiting La Brenne national park to bird watch. Edward and Malcolm who run this guest house are excellent hosts who made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Their evening meal is really excellent value too as Edward is a great cook. They grow their own produce so you can be assured of lots of vegetabes with your evening meal. If you want to visit the lakes of the Brenne to bird watch in the Spring or Autumn, this is a good place to stay. It is very near Argenton- Sur- Creuse and just off the A20 road. We stayed with them again on our way back home for one night having been down to the Camargue.
