We really enjoyed our stay at Hawkstone Park and would definitely recommend it to our friends. The food was lovely the staff were very friendly and helpful and our room was spotlessly clean.

Just returned from a golf trip to Hawkstone Park (32 of us). The area is beautiful and the golf courses are fantastic. We played both 18 hole courses over the 3 days but didnt try the 9 hole course but I hear it is excellent too. The hotel room was tiny but clean(annex) the food was very good in the dining room but the sandwiches in the club house were tasteless. Service was good although couldnt find the wine waiter until we had finished dinner!!!!! We will definately return to play the courses next year but might not book the hotel as I hear there is a good guest house close by

I booked this hotel as a long weekend teat for my daughter who is getting married soon. It was going to be a lovely surprise. Well, we were both surprised, I'll give the hotel that. We had a drink in the terrace bar on arrival which was very pleasant if a bit pricey. Our room, similar to a cheap holiday camp type room, in the Annexe. The room itself was so so, but the bathroom was filthy. Mould all around the bath and shower, when we had a shower the windowsill inside got soaked as there was no curtain. On the first night, the music from a wedding party kept us awake until midnight. On the second night, there were a group of 'lads' staying in the room behind ours who found it amusing to jump around and land against the wall, waking us up in the middle of the night. To be fair to the staff, I rang reception and the noise quietened down. An eager groundsman mowing the golf course opposite our room woke us at 6.45 on the second day, which was a very unwelcome wake up call. The staff were generally OK, particularly the receptionist on arrival, who was very helpful. Breakfast is serve yourself, OK, and a fair choice unless you get there after 9am, when most of the selection seems to have been taken. Unlimited breakfast tea and coffee was very nice.

Thanks for the feedback.

Having recently started i have checked the rooms with the housekeeper i can say i think the standards are much better than you experienced. Sorry you were disturbed by some noise, we will always try to allocate rooms appropriately to our visitors and it appears on this occasion that was incorrect.

regards

We have just returned from Hawkstone Park. We booked 24 hrs before the planned arrival. From the minute we arrived, the tone was set. In every respect, the staff were professional and courteous. The room was far above 3 star. The meals in the restaurant were outstanding and in the clubhouse, they were delicious. The staff, from kitchen to table, impressed.
It is hard to describe, how enjoyable this break was.

while holidaying in britain from australia,my husband a keen golfer found an advert in a golf magizine for hawksbury park.It looked inviting so we decided to go and stay as we were in Shrewsbury at the time.we were totally in or as we drove up the country lane to the village.Yes we did have to wait for our room, but we enjoyed a lovley country walk on a beautiful autum day.Are room was clean and warm, we did adventually work out how to use the shower. We enjoyed pre dinner drinks in the bar,a little noisey with all the golfers,a .great evening meal in the resturant.A superb nights sleep, and a good harty breakfast. To add to this my husband enjoyed his golf, and is still sharing his experience with his golfing mates.A wonderfull memory.

We booked the hotel though Active Hotels, after seeing reviews on TripAdvisor. The hotel was obviously very popular as it was almost full when we arrived.
Our room was in the Annex, which has approx 20 rooms on 2 levels. The room standard was low - more like a holdiay camp room rather than a hotel, the beds were old and the decor was tired.
At about 8pm the heating came on and the noise from the plumbing was deafening. This was not "character" it was a constant humming so loud it was impossible to have a conversation. At 9pm we complained and were told that it was a known problem with that room and if we gave it long enough it would stop. We asked to be transfered to another room and were moved to another room in the Annex which had exactly the same problem.
By 10pm we were at our wits end and check out of the hotel as they could not offer us any other rooms.
Do not stay at this hotel and definitely do not stay in the Annex.

Stayed for one night June 07.

Hotel caters for golfing parties but was quiet at night. Room was clean, well equipped with reasonable quality furniture and the shower worked properly.

Breakfast food was nicely prepared.

A car is needed as it is in a rural location between Shrewsbury and Whitchurch.
