Most of the staff were delightful and helpful. Hotel is let down by excessive outside noise and internal noise on Sunday night. Bath is very slippy, my wife was injured because of this. Uncomfortable chairs, duvet needs replacing

Looks just like any other Travelodge. You know what you’re going to get. However, the room felt like it needed a freshen up and cobwebs on the windows. Suited the purpose of our stay for a local wedding. Was only in the room to sleep. Would stay again, but have been in nicer Travelodges.

Staff chatty, smiling friendly & helpful, room clean fresh & spacious. Tea coffee etc in room so we could make a cuppa. Burger King, little chef, garage with a decent shop all within a minute walk. Prices reasonable.

On 3rd day of our Shropshire Hills Cottage HOLIDAY my wife fell and broke her hip and other minor matters. On 3/09/17 she was operated on and was released 9 days later for our drive back to kent.
On the 8/09/17 I had to leave the Cottage and transfered myself to the Travelodge for the weekend.

While I'd certainly stay here again, this is very much a budget hotel, as can be spotted with some of the fixtures and fittings. While the beds are very comfortable, some of the customer servicing leaves a little to be desired (especially in contrast with comparable Premier Inn or Holiday Inn Express hotels). For example the receptionist appeared to be speaking a form of English that was utterly unintelligible to myself or my wife, though the staff member was helpful and friendly. Just wasn't 100% sure what she was trying to tell us.

Our room smelled intensely of bleach for example, and while we value a clean bathroom the air-extractor fan was clearly not fully operational and it took hours before the whiff of chlorine in the room was tolerable. The lighting in the room was distinctly average, and could do with being a lot brighter. Additionally one of the bedside lights was so underpowered that it was like trying to see by moonlight. Bathroom fittings were functional, although the lack of finesse in their finishing meant they were a little rough round the edges. Road noise in the room was average, but more audible than normally expected in service station located hotels.

On the plus side the views over the fields at the back are rather splendid to wake up from, and a change from staring into car park! Rooms are also warm and roomy, and for the price, pretty good value for money. The location is handy too, on the outskirts of the city (about 9 mins drive in) and close to major and minor road junctions. Just don't expect a Premier experience.

Oh, and don't trust Google Maps - as it tries to direct you past the hotel and along the main road - the hotel IS off the Dobbies Garden Centre roundabout!

I would stay here again, but only if similar priced options were unavailable locally.

Room Tip: The car park facing rooms - lesser views, but quieter rooms (I suspect)
