Edelweiss Lodge & Spa

From the moment we made the reservation you could tell this stay was going to go smoothly. We got an email confirming all the details of our stay and the concierge was offering any additional assistance. We had told them we had 3 teenagers in the room and just wanted to make sure the bedding would work. Our initial room would have accommodated us fine but the day before arrival the concierge called and offered us an upgraded room since they had it available that would be a better fit. She had just recalled from a previous email that we were a bit concerned on space. I thought that was very proactive and turned out to be super helpful. The room was spacious, great views right on the mountain and super clean. The kitchen is fully equipped to make a feast (we did many nights). They have a boot room and locker storage for your skis so you don't need to clutter up your room with all your gear. Plus this hotel has underground parking which is very convenient. You can also pack a bit lighter since they have washer and dryers in the room with detergent handy.

The hotel has a wonderful boutique hotel feel and the lobby restaurant was priced very reasonably and had great options for fine dining or a casual burger. I felt like the staff was always right there anticipating your needs. Super friendly without going overboard - especially the front office staff.

We will stay here for sure on our next visit. A bit pricier than some of the other options but if you plan to eat in, you make up for the price difference with a cozy place to hang out when you are off the mountain.

Room Tip: I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the suites. The hotel lockoff rooms are not t...

We stayed at Edelweiss for 2 nights and the hotel is fine but nothing special. There is no service really as it is a condo, and the rooms were average, but the location is literally next to lift 1. We did not eat at the restaurants but they looked just okay. It was a good place to stay though as we arrived, rented skis from the in hotel ski shop and were in the mountain an hour later.

We thank you for your business and certainly hope you will try the restaurant next time. Our lock off "hotel" rooms (unit without kitchens or living rooms) are indeed on the smaller side. We try to emphasize this when a guests is booking and suggest a condominium for longer stays. The lock off rooms are part of larger condos with "common areas" contemplated elsewhere in the design of the unit. We do have a lovely lobby area and exercise room where many guests spend their time if not on the mountain or asleep.

Our condominiums are certainly our specialty and offer the best Edelweiss experience, but the lock-off hotel rooms do provide many of the property's great amenities and location at a reduced price.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Edelweiss for a long ski weekend. There are many good aspects: the majority of the staff are very friendly and helpful, the restaurant is very good & well priced, and the location is great.

We got a peak at one of the condo units; it looks well furnished and quite comfortable. However, as a hotel room when locked off, it was not very comfortable for 3 nights. The room is just too small, and so hot even with the heat off and windows open in the middle of winter! The bathroom in unit 305 is really not laid out well; the doors are so inconvenient.

We also had one major service problem - our 2nd night there, there was a loud quarrel in the room next to us - screaming and doors slamming late into the night. I called both after hours phone numbers to get help with quieting them down, but no one answered either line.

From other reviews, it sounds like the Edelweiss could be a great place if you have a condo unit and are just sleeping in the bedrooms, but I would not recommend staying in the lock-off hotel rooms.

Room Tip: Rooms on slope side are fun for watching skiers, but expect to hear the snowcats grooming early in t...

We are terribly sorry for the problems you experienced during your stay with us and hope that we can prove that your experience was not the norm. The lock-off hotel rooms are admittedly on the smaller side and we generally emphasize this fact at the time of booking. We were aware of the issues with the guests next to you and unfortunately were unable to control their disturbing behavior (they have been blacklisted and will not be allowed back to disrupt the vacation of future Edelweiss guests.) We have also addressed the heat issue in the unit you stayed in to be sure other guests do not have the same experience. We owe you an apology and a free stay to give us another chance.

Great location for a ski-in/ski-out destination. Room was average and needed a paint job. Hot tub didn't work (no heat) 2 out of 3 days, very dissapointing especially when you need treatment after skiing a long day. Breakfast was good in the restaurant. Overall i would stay again.

Location, location, location- you got it right. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and sorry that the hot tub had problems while you were here. I am glad to hear you would/will come back as surely the hot tub would be working and you will experience the complete Edelweiss experience.

We spent 5 nights at the Edelweiss for a family ski trip Jan. 20-25th. Our stay could not have been better. Beautiful, well maintained condo with true ski-in/ski-out access. We have a 9 year old son and the close proximity to Strawberry Hill/Children's Ski School made our trip extremely convenient. The heated boot locker room is well-appointed with wood-stained boot lockers and a carpeted floor. Fantastic when you come in after a long day of skiing! We rented our equipment from Alpine Extreme located in the building. If you are traveling with children - you will be very happy with the ammenities at Edelweiss - the resort tubing hill is located directly outside of this condo complex as well.
The heated and underground parking proved to be of great value to us. Taos received snow everyday of our stay and we never had to "warm up" our car or scrape ice - awesome!! The restaurant has a very cozy atmosphere and we recommend the French Country Beef Stew served over buttered noodles - delicious.
For adults - very quiet condo and nice, cozy Apres Ski atmosphere in the bar. The fitness room is well-appointed and there is a spa. Although not the least expensive in the ski valley, I can't imagine staying anywhere else and are seriously considering returning here for our ski trip next year. This is as easy/convenient as you will get in the Taos Ski Valley.

My wife and I stayed in the Edelweiss for 3 nights in mid-January. It was a last minute trip, so most of the other ski-in/ski-out properties were sold out. We opted to spend the extra money to stay at the Edelweiss. It was a good decision, because the location is excellent. We had an excellent view of the ski school area and everything was a short walk away. The restaurant was decent, but not great. Other local restaurants had better prices, food, and drink selections. We stayed in the hotel room, which was cute and well taken care of, but very small.

Our stay in unit 207 over the Christmas holiday was delightful. The unit had remarkable views of the mountain, with wood floors throughout and a beautiful kitchen and dining area (also with incredible views). This is a wonderful ski in/ski out property, which I highly recommend. We will come back without hesitation.
