Owner description: Located at the southern tip of the Rocky Mountains in Northern New Mexico, Taos Ski Valley is a world famous destination for riders and skiers of all ability levels. Taos is primarily know for its steeps but offers beginner & intermediate trails off the top of every single chair lift. For the advanced to expert skier/rider Taos offers some of the most challenging and varied terrain in the country, especially off its hike to ridges. The family vibe is also embodied in the quaint village of Taos Ski Valley. Not overdeveloped the resort offers a simple night life, lots of dining options, with everything in close proximity. This is not a normal ski "resort". Its not about the apres ski, or fancy luxury hotels, or spas, or night clubs, or being seen. This place is for skiers, or to be politically correct, boarders too. Its for hard core skiers who want to climb another six hundred feet of vertical or more after they get off the lift. Its a lot of mountain for the number of skiers/boarders here. It has nice restaurants on the hill, and lots of tree skiing. No detachable high speed lifts here, but they run them at a pretty good clip, so its not too long at all on each lift. Not the place to bring little kids, period. So for the skier/boarder who is in love with this sport, its one of the best places in the world to go, even when there is no fresh pow.

“Great ski school and slopes”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2012

The ski school is one of the best in the West and has a big kids program. Even tho the runs look incredibly steep, there are plenty of intermediate runs you can;t see from the base. Shuttle from the parking lot runs often and you can get lots of help from the staff IF you ASK for it ( getting the right boots, buying the right socks, etc). Good selection of shops/ hotels/condos nearby.

“Personable, friendly staff at every turn!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2012

This was a magical trip for my 16 yr. old son and I. The genuine friendliness of every staff member we encountered added to our memorable snowboarding dream trip. The green and blue runs were perfect for our ability level (just took up snowboarding January of this year on a much smaller scale here in Wisconsin!). Minimal waits in line (as one local told us, once your on the mountain, it's so spread out that the waits are minimal year round). More beautiful and fun then we could have ever imagined!

No lift lines, you practically have the slopes to yourself even during holidays, aggressive terrain, the locals are very kind and helpful, and it's definitely the best ski school around!
