I arrived at The Sitwell Arms Hotel to attend my beautiful sisters wedding. The ceremony took place on a tiny room with just enough room for 3 chairs on either side of an aisle barely wide enough to get my sister and father down comfortably. After this went back into the bar where the dinner tables had been expertly squashed into a section of the (we found out later) function room. The meal was awful! The warm rolls arrived followed by tomato soup. I looked around and 3 tables away were just receiving their rolls!! The chicken breast was dry, roast potatoes tasted like they had been done the day before and warmed up, the boiled new potatoes were hard, the broccoli and carrots were raw and we had to ask for more gravy as there were only 2 small boats delivered to a table of 8! We were served half a glass of wine (my sister and fiance paid for 2 glasses each), we had a choice though, red or white medium sweet rubbish. The best part was the sweet, home made cheesecake, it really was delicious. The service was terrible, it was slow, it felt like the staff couldn't be bothered, they looked like they didn't want to be there and as if a smile would crack their faces. All in all, I wouldn't recommend having a wedding there at all. The only staff that did smile and offer any help they could were the lovely ladies on reception. Nothing was too problem to them at all. My sister and her fiance thought they were helping both families by getting this package, (they paid a lot of money for it too) they didn't want anyone put out by having to travel between venues. Frankly, I would have traveled across Sheffield if I had known what a dismal set of staff and low standards this venue presented. All in all - shocking!!

Room Tip: Don't!

Evening meal in bar. Made a mistake when ordering. Went back to rectify straight away. Told we couldn't change order as it was "nearly ready". Waited another 10 minutes. Meal arrived cold. Had it reheated - nit the worst chilli but only average. Had read good reports so were expecting better than average. Customer not central to the dining experience - didn't"t have another drink or pud. Won't be coming back

I would highly recommend this hotel to any one, we paid £40.00 bed and breakfast a brilliant deal, the room was lovely and big with views over the gardens. All of the staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us, they went over and above the call of duty.
Lovely walks at the back of the Hotel to the Rother Valley Park.
We would go back again anytime.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back - lovely garden views

Booked this under an offer from the hotel of £65 DBB although we did pay an extra £10 to upgrade to a four poster room with a jacuzzi bath. The room was spacious, clean and tidy as was the bathroom. Only one niggle and that was the temperature of the room which was too warm overnight despite leaving windows open. In fairness it was one of the warmer evenings of the year and the hotel clearly anticipated the problem by having a fan in the room which did make a considerable difference. Dinner was from the table d'hote menu and was only two courses which actually suits me as I can rarely cope with three. Choice was limited but included, beef, chicken, fish and vegetarian option for main course. The food itself was good and we enjoyed our meal. Wine was reasonably priced and the bottle we had for £15 good quality. Breakfast was very generous with an excellent choice of cooked food. The hotel although set just off the main road has a nice garden area and outside seating where we enjoyed a cask ale. Staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. The hotel is very close to Rennishaw hall and gardens which are well worth a visit.

I stayed here with my husband for their midweek DBB deal. At £65 per couple I thought it was fantastic value for money. The staff were polite and friendly and the food was good. My husband used the gym and although the equipment was a little dated their was plenty of it considering it was a hotel gym. Drinks prices were as you would expect from any bar and the choice of wineon the wine list was also good.
The only criticism I could make is that the room was very hot and although a fan was provided their didn't appear to be any air conditioning.
