“Most friendly hotel in Europe!”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

We were staying in lovely Nina Beach Hotel in the begining of May for one week. Season was just starting, so not so many visitors. Manager Giannis was very helpfull with any questions we had. All the staff members are super friendly and nice people.
Rooms were clean and nice for a 3* hotel. Mini fridge, hair dryeir, tv, ac. Every room has a nice balcony so you can sit and relax in the evening. Hotel has a great pool 85-290cm deep and 25 meters long (i think) and a bar with super bartender, a coctail maestro Georgia.
For your entertainment there are tv/pc room, pingpong table, table football, pool table and tennis courts available (paid a little extra).

Second best memory after nice staff is the food we had there... Oh... Great taste, look, quality. Every day it was something different, everything was tasty and plenty of it. For breakfast in nice restaurant we had boiled, scrambled eggs, sausages, a lot of different vegetables, salads, sauces, cornflakes, fruits, sweet things, coffee, juice, water, fresh bread.
For dinner we had many of tradicional Greek meals, vegetables, deserts. One was better than another - we liked everything we've tried. Sensational desert - home made ice cream from local milk - never tasted anything better.

Hotel is in calm place, in the middle of island, so you can easily reach everything with rented car (from one of many rental companies around). Beach is up to 10 minutes away (depending on how fast you're). Marmari has nice beach with soft sand, nice view to other islands.

It's a great family run hotel for your vacation. Nice people, great food, pool and drinks.
Best memories from our stay in Nina Beach Hotel and we will come back next year for sure!

when we first arrived at the nina it was at 3am we were given our key ( after wakeing the night porter who was asleep on the sofa) and went to our basic room and found it clean but ok when we attended breakfast little did we know that was as good as it gets we are quite open to eating other peoples idea of breakfast and dinner so we just got on with it and found something to eat but as the days passed we found that allot of the food was poorly cooked and the chef made little effort to even try to improve the nature and taste of his work . we also found the nature of the staff in the restaurant surly and quite often grumpy one morning the waiter allowed the fried eggs to be thrown into the service tray which preitey well sums up the attitude although we always ate something the standard was poor the tined sausages were burnt one morning the rooms were always clean and we had a good view of the mountains the walls were very very thin you could even hear people going to the toilet we were also woken by the noise of other air con units from other rooms whilst the gardens were neat and tidy the hotel was worse than we had expected but this didnt spoil our holiday the walk to the beach was lovely and yes the location is in the middle of farm land but we live in devon so cows dont bother us it was the end of the season so things were shuting so we have no complaints there we hired a car from the always best hire shop for 5 days there are plenty of good tavernas close to the hotel cava doro which is right on the beach and the aegean which was even closer at both we were welcomed with warmth and poloiteness we also went to mastacari ate at the al grecco food was fantastic we would love to say thank you to theo at the captains retaurant in kardameana and finaly the blue retaurant on the right at zia ( the name escapes me ) fantastic food as for the nina no i wouldnt go again mammari a very small resort with some great tavernas yes i would visit again i think there needs to be an attitude change at the nina and a change of management it is not good enough to expect people to pay to eat poorly prepared and tasteless food when 150yds away there is a taverna that serves food to a brilliant standard the evening meal before you leave should be included but is not and there is a room down stairs where you can have a shower and get changed which we used but there is nowhere to put your cases that is secure and this should also be available i advise people not to expect allot when booking this hotel good luck

from the start problems arose, arrived at 11.30 pm one grumpy male receptionist who did not want to be bothered, went to bed only to be kept awake all night from the air conditioner in the room next door, we had to persist with two seperate staff members to be moved to another room, the breakfast meals were limited in range and by the tiny size of the plates, cups and glasses and as the whole place was in half board mode the next meal was at 7.00pm till 9.00pm with the same problem of side plates for your main meal and no fruit and no drinks supplied, not even water without paying, not indulging in purchasing alchohol with the meal brought on a chilling change of attitude from the restaurant staff noticably by many people was the recycling of food not used on the day for the next evening, although the gardens around the pool were beautiful the atmosphere was often spoilt by the regular invasion of sewage odours which could be extremely strong, this problem one night awoke us from sleep as it invaded the whole hotel it was absolutely sickening people were turning on the air conditioning but this only made it worse dragging even more of the foul odours into the rooms, there was no apology forthcoming only excuses about lack of funds to replace ancient sewage equipment, the surrounding area is desolate very unnatractive all around are abandoned agricultural fields seriously overgrown and this continued on the 15 minutes walk to the beach, there is a small shop close by and two "supermarkets" within walking distance, both as neglected as the surrounding area with limited items at extortionate prices, a bottle of sun lotion for 19 euros gives you an example, our departure flight was 5 minutes past midnight on the saturday and we had to leave our room at 12 midday and although the owner nina promised facilities for us to freshen up and change into our travelling clothes and some food to be provided she, consistently ignored us during that day and conveniently dissapeared at the time to help us therefore we had to change our clothes in the lobby area and sit from breakfast until 20.40 when our transport arrived, we provided ourselves with sustinance due to her broken promises, this woman is nice to your face but without any honest feelings and her husband was clearly indifferent to all guests to the point of making you uncomfortable in his presence, take our advice and stay well clear of this place, if you have to go to kos, select a high grade hotel on the beach to enjoy your holiday and be prepared to pay plenty if you wish to take advantage of the trips on offer or shopping anywere at all plus be careful if you use the local tramsport, my wife is visibly disabled but despite this we where deliberlately dropped of 3 kilometers from our requested stop coming back from Kos town, and having no idea were we where, had to pay a further 10 euros to get back to our hotel, it seems not all the residents appreciate tourists invading thier island

Please ignore the negative reviews/ reports
My self and family stayed at the Nina hotel from the 22nd of September
For a week , there was 2 disabled members in the party and the hotel looked after us like we were royalty ,on arrival we were give 2 rooms with showers (walk-in) on the ground floor as near to the restaurant and reception as possible , The only draw back is there are about 6-8 steps to get in and out of the hotel but luckily for us the disabled people could manage them (there is a lift in the building which we were made aware of and told just use it when you need to . we were told if we needed anything at all just pick up the phone and ring , How’s that for a welcome.
Any way the hotel is very clean and the staff pride them selves on providing excellent service (which they do) from the chamber maids to the managers and owners and they were always polite and very helpful nothing was a problem.
The rooms were average size for a hotel with a small fridge dressing table , wardrobes the usual set up , all the amenity’s worked fine including the sockets , the beds were single’s firm but not uncomfortable ,Air condition was available at an extra 6 euros(a standard charge across Greece), a small balcony had a mosquito netted door as well as the usual glass doors which worked fine.
The restaurant was nicely laid out and again the staff were very helpful, when asked what’s on tonight they would show us what dishes were available and explain what was in it (all the food was defiantly edible despite some of the claims by other reviewers) The food was a buffet and seemed to be supplied for the majority of the guest which were either German or from the Cech republic, Which was fine and we understood the reasons why .
Breakfast was buffet style (continental) and evening meals were the same (buffet style) there was souvlaki, gyros, mousaka, ice cream ,cakes, fruit - apples, mango, oranges. All available
The pool and pool bar areas were always well maintained and clean with plenty sun beds etc. for the guests. The pool bar was a bit quiet on a night time but not for long with the noise we were making.
The Bar staff were excellent always courteous and game for a bit of a laugh.
Any way we would love to return to the hotel we were made very welcome as always in Greece ,
Oh the nearest cash machine is in marmari its self about 1-1/2 km away but a nice walk. And the local shops take c/card .
Also Budget cars on the island were brilliant after the uk company made a mess of my hire car booking and we were sent a fiat punto car to put 2 wheelchairs in LOL , the company seen the problem straight away and up graded us F.O.C to a mini bus whish was brilliant of them

My partner and I booked a last minute holiday through an on-line company for mid-september 2012, we didn't have a lot of time or choices for the dates we could travel - but were happy to find what looked like a fairly decent hotel on the beautiful island of Kos. Kos really is a beautiful place to visit and would recommend highly, some of the best beaches and clear water that I have visited - not the Nina Beach Hotel though. Staff were not very friendly at all, any question asked at the reception seemed to be too much effort for them to answer, there was no local information provided on arrival - just very poorly arranged photocopies stuck to the front desk - mostly in German. A small map / guide would have been of great benefit.
The nearest cash machine is a good 45 mins walk away along the beach ( the only one in one of two nearest towns - 3kms away ), this was an inconvenience as the hotel would not take card payment when we were charged an extra 36 Euros for air-con - in the heat this was an absolute must! The rooms were clean but very dated and basic, we have both returned with very bad backs as the beds were like glorified camp beds, no good for anyone already experiencing back problems. The walls are very thin - you can hear everything happening in the room next-door and every footstep along the corridor - earplugs recommended! The food was very poor, buffet breakfast and evening meal, was not something we looked forward to as we usually eat very healthily and like to try local dishes. If you like fruit and vegetables ( which there is an abundance of on the island ) you will be disappointed with the school dinner style mush of Hotel Nina, over boiled frozen veg, some meat dish ( still not sure what meat it was, but it did have slithers of spam mixed in.....), bland soggy pasta and stale bread. Needless to say, we wasted our hard earned money paying for half-board and ended up eating out more than we planned, which cost more but was much more true to the lovely dishes of the island. There are some excellent local tavernas with really lovely staff ( George at the Aegean Taverna and the owner at Cave D'Oro served us delicious local dishes ) and if you wander to local shops there is lovely fresh fruit to enjoy. There was very little entertainment at the hotel, in the evenings - a pool bar with no atmosphere but ok cocktails, and possibly the smallest 'crazy golf' course in the world - if you do like watching television on holiday - you will need to pay for that too. The redeeming features of this hotel are that the pool is very clean and well maintained with a good provision of loungers and shade on offer, and the great view of the mountains from our balcony. We have come home feeling a somewhat 'ripped-off' with this holiday.

Greeting from Czech republic

* Room - clean, good size, a little bit old fashioned
TV sat with 5 channels only, impossible to locate others, bad visibility
mosquito net - very good, problem with mosquito in the restaurant in the evening
some sockets do not work eg. room 112 socket in the corner, under TV

* Housekeeping - very good
* Swimming pool - very good
* Bar - very good and the waitress the best of them, you must be proud of her
* Hotel - why do you charge for table tennis, football game, mini golf? it does not cost a fortune to leave it free
it is unbelievable not to have wifi - I must be online everyday and do not want to pay 1,50 per 20 minutes so
I went for coffee paid 2,00 for coffee at the beach and have wifi for how long I wanted
* Restaurant - very big problem, photos seemed good but the reality was different
every day cucumber tomato one kind of cheese, two of salami, jam, honey, cornflakes, sausage,
hard boiled eggs, no change, no surprise, it can be done in various ways
- dinner - one kind of meat + one baked, pasta, peas, rice, cucumber, tomato
only 6 hot plates for a main dish, we deserve greater choice
tzatziki once a week feta once a week
everyday melon and melon
everyday mousse
what about some cakes, souvlaki, gyros, mousaka, fruit - apples, banana, mango, oranges...
- I was really unsatisfied with half board, we paid 168 Eur for a double room one week in Hersonissos in 3*
hotel for all inclusive last September and believe me or not, we were very satisfied, three kinds of meat,
potato, chips, pasta etc
I will recommend your hotel for hospitality, staff, cleaness, location, surrounding but never I am sorry for board, no inovation, no idea, no choice, no variability
Have you tasted coffee or chocolate from coffee machine? horrible impossible to drink, maybe drink but the real coffee or chocolate from coffee machine taste a little bit else
Your hotel invites families and we have to pay about 550 eur for one week stay, I think they will appreciate soft drinks free of charge for dinner, they can not alllow to pay 2 euro for coke or juice every day for each member

Room Tip: second floor is better less mosquito

We have just returned from our holiday at the Nina Beach Hotel, which had both positive and negative sides to our stay there.
We stayed there for one weeks holiday in September and arrived there at about 2.30 in the morning. The hotel was in darkness apart from the reception area, the staff on duty was friendly and helpful and we got our keys to the room. The room had a communicating door between our room and next doors room, which was probably there for families. This door was a sliding door and was locked shut by wedging paper and cardboard between the wall and the door our side. The room had an en suite with bath and shower into the bath it was clean but dated and tired looking. The room was clean and had all you would need, however it was also in need of an update. Air condition was available at an extra 6 euros a day in the room and it had a small balcony with a table and two chairs which you could see the sea about 500 metres away.
The hotel had a very good swimming pool which was very clean with plenty of sunbeds and lots of shady areas for people looking for the shade. There was a pool bar which also supplied snack/light lunch food. The prices were comparable with local bars in the area.
There was also inside the hotel internet access a table tennis table a pool table and table top football, these were at a local charge. There was an outside play area for children with swings etc and a crazy golf course. On paper these look good facilities but they did look tired and need of updating. In general the hotel was very clean and had been open since 1994, it looked like it would benefit from some investment and updating.
The food was buffet and seemed to be supplied for the majority of the guest which were either German or from the Cech republic. It was bland but edible. They could have done so much more with the ingredients they could have had more Greek dishes and maybe a BBQ night. Breakfast could have done with a bit more imagination, However this was not really aimed at the British guests.
The staff were very friendly and helpful from the top to the bottom and you could not fault their efforts in trying to make sure you have a good holiday.
We found it peaceful and relaxing which is what we needed, there was no young adults or small children when we went, this maybe because it was in school term and not much to attract the 18-30 club crew.
