“An absolute haven!!”
Reviewed May 21, 2012

Just back, 20.5.12 from this stunning Hotel!! With staff friendly who only want to make your stay as happy as possible. With stylish decor, faultless cleanliness, facilities galore, buffet food excellent + pools to die for and the beach literally across the road (wind breaks would be helpful). Some say the location is a problem ie the little village of Marmari is a 15/20 min walk away, but only a couple of bars open at this time of year. Evening entertainment at the Hotel amounted to a man + a woman playing live music and then the customary Greek dancers once a week, all very nice. It's fair to say, the evenings are quiet, just how I like it!!
The Hotel has a lovely ambience and a very nice touch to it, I really do hope it stays this way!!

Room Tip: As said before, rooms in the 200s get the sun in the am, rooms in the 400s get it in the pm. Also, f...

This was our first visit to Kos, although not to Greece, we were not disappointed with the Hotel yes it is away from the hub, but that's the beauty of it. The Staff are all friendly and helpful and nothing appears to be to much trouble.

Room: These are clean and well maintained, we had room 555 overlooking the pool, gets the sun in the morning and the cool shade in the afternoon. It had all that we needed for our stay and was cleaned with towels etc changed daily.

Food: buffet style breakfast and dinner with plenty to suit everyone's tastes, if your are disappointed then you must be VERY hard to please. We stayed half board which suited our needs, there is an Italian Al a carte restaurant in site, booking essential, worth a visit.

Amenities: brilliant pool, spa, massage, crepe cafe with waffles to die for. We did not try the Spa so could not comment, but judging by the rest of the facilities would consider it to be first class.

Marmari: approx 5-10min walk, not much there a few little tavernas and usual shops worth the walk though along the beach.

Tours:we only went on one tour that was to Nisyros, do not book it through Thomsons, they charge 50euros per person , ouch, we went with Tagaki Tours, office in Marmari, cost 32euros each, go on the Friday trip you will get Michael an English guide who lives on the Island and who is very knowledgable you also get a trip to his village, this is Alsohirenot on the Thomson tour, trust me Michael was a star, boring he is not. Also hire a car to get the best of the Island, it's easy to get around and you can choose your own timescale thus missing all the tour buses.

Overall: brilliant holiday made better by our stay at the Palazzo, if you want layed back, relaxed, without the hassle then this is the place to be.

Thank you all at the Pallazzo Del Mare

Room Tip: Try one with a balcony view overlooking the pool.

although we were the youngest people in the hotel during our stay, i have to say we really enjoyed our stay at the palazzo. the rooms, grounds and facilities are excellent. all the staff are excellent and extremely helpful.
lots of variety in terms of food, there isnt much to do of an evening unless you go into kos town which is a taxi ride away.
wifi connection is good.
i would definatly return to this hotel. cannot fault it in any way

This hotel exceeded our expectations. Amazing pool. Our room had a patio with direct access to the pool. The beach was nice too. Restaurants were very good. Service excellent. Only downside is that there is no kids club although there is a playground.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the ground floor to ensure that you have direct access to the pool.

Perfect for total peace and relaxation. Amazing value for money. Weather was great first 2 weeks of May. Free bottle of wine, fruit and salad platter on arrival as we missed dinner. Hired a car, 2 days was enough, best beach was at the hotel. Recommend swim up rooms. Huge variety of food, service in dining room very quick. Didn't use the spa much as wanted to make the most of the sun. Some people have said negative things about the location, however once you see the rest of the island you realise the location is actually the best. I would be nervous taking young kids to this hotel, there is water everywhere, I'm surprised it's not adult only. Booked with Sovereign and flew with Easy Jet, worked out cheaper than Thomson even though they are part of the same group .. Private transfers, concierge service, airport lounge (gatwick) all included.

Room Tip: Swim up rooms a must

We have just come back from the Palazzo and I am writing this review whilst it is still fresh in my head.
The flights
We booked with Thomson our outward flight was at 7.05 in the morning and as this was an AL-carte holiday we got free entry to the lounge at Gatwick which was very useful as not a lot of places were open at 5am. They had a various food i.e. hot bacon rolls, cereals tea coffee and alcohol.
The flight was on time and we arrived about 20 mins early the plane was quite old and had no entertainment at all (so take something to read) the staff wasn't that good just done there job with at least possible client contact. The flight inward bound was very good on time newer plane leather seats and a very cheery crew.
Kos airport is very small a small duty free shop a couple of places to buy hot and cold food and drinks our check out was very quick luggage came of the plane extra fast, coming back we were one of the first at the airport for our flight back so we sailed through.
The hotel
We were driven there by taxi 15 mins down the road, when we got into reception we had one of the front desk girls give us a registration form to fill in while we were doing this we were given a drink or either wine or soft drink. We were then shown round the hotel and grounds and then taken to our room.
We had booked a junior suite with sea view, there were 5 ground floor rooms and 5 balcony rooms we had a ground floor room which lead out to a pool just for the 10 rooms (the top floor rooms had a jacuzzi on their balcony). We had a large sitting room with tele and dvd player, two settee's and doors leading out to the first part of the terrace which had table and chairs. If you walked round the terrace we had two sunbeds and a umbrella and then there were another set of table and chairs and patio doors which lead into the bedroom where there was a very large queen bed which excellent bedding that lead through another door into the bathroom were you had a large shower two sinks and a door which lead to the toilet (no bath), the rooms were spotless and that is how they were kept all week, lovely fluffy white towels, bathrobes and slippers.
The main restaurant was nice and airy the food was good on breakfast and evening meal, waiter service was very good very prompt (it could be that at the beginning of our holiday the hotel was only 80% full) and they were very friendly. There was only two things that I disagreed with, one was there were two sittings, 6.30 - 8.30 and 8.30 to 10ish, we had the second sitting and a couple of times when we got there about 8.40 we still had to wait for a table unless we wanted to sit right inside. The second was they allowed smoking on the outside of the restaurant which was a nice place to sit as it overlooked the grounds maybe I'm wrong but I thought that smoking was ban in public eating places unless you are right outside, they are the only two things that I would say I was not happy about.
Pools
The main pools are fantastic they go the length on the hotels rooms and the terrace rooms have steps leading into the pool from their own room. To be quite honest I would have been satisfied with one of those rooms because they looked really nice, a lot smaller but for two people it seemed just right. The water was not to bad and at the hotel end of the pool there is a indoor pool which was nice and warm.
Spa I cannot comment on never used it.
Beach
The beach was great nice sand hardly any stones walk into the water which was quite warm for this time of year, very safe to swim in. This was the hotels private beach with plenty of sunbeds plus bar service, we spent a lot of time down there, though it was only about 77 degrees it was very hot but it does get very breezy down there which I appreciated as it kept me cool.
Lastly this hotel I would say is not for families with children beside the pool (is quite deep) and beach there is nothing for the kids a very small play area and a small children's pool this hotel seems to attract couples young and old. The drinks are very expensive even the water so it you go out the back of the hotel turn right and walk straight down (about 10 mins walk) to were the road bends you will see Maria supermarket you can get water etc there a lot cheaper.
The bus to Kos stops right outside the back of the hotel and your rep will give you a timetable it cost 2 euro's to go by taxi it will cost about 18 euro one way. Friends of our hired a car from the small village down the road for 20 euros where Thomson's was asking 40 euros, so shop around to get the best deal.

Room Tip: as for room no starting in the 200 as these get the sun in the afternoon, the other side gets the su...

Service is impecable. You are treated like royalty but with a real smile. Meals are buffet style - lots of choice and nothing seems to run out. Rooms are a generous size with a decent balcony or, for a bit extra you can have a swim-up room or even your own private pool. All the rooms overlook one of the pools and have a partial sea view. Two of the pools are 100 meters plus long and interconnect so the swimming fanatic can disappear down one and reappear up the other. If you don't like swimming in pools the beach is just across the way with hotel-owned sunbeds and shades - all free. We swam in the sea in early May and it was cool but certainly not cold. We booked for one week and my wife's first comment was "can we stay for another week". It may not be the best holiday hotel in the world but it comes close.

Room Tip: Try to get a west facing room for warm sun on your balcony all afternoon/evening
