Cottage is in a terrace, not semi-detached. The TV sound didn't work on days 2 and 3. Fridge dirty and old-fashioned, freezer section completely iced up, only one shelf where there should be two, so capacity diminished. One kitchen cupboard door only hanging on by one hinge. One bracket for handrail on stairs is loose and unsafe. No central heating, so main heat source is a gas fire which we found impossible to light, and no instructions given - nor for anything else, eg rubbish collection, location of garden, which was across the road behind the single parking place, etc. 'Location perfect' - maybe, but no mention of extremely narrow access in both directions. Very worrying that someone came in on day 2 and left lights on, inc standard lamp we never put on. Owner said he didn't do it. When asked about TV, fire and fridge, he became very aggressive, the next day ordering us to leave, via email containing quite unjustified personal abuse!!
Martha's Cottage was a delightful quiet, cosy place with a lot of character. It was an excellent base for exploring the area for a few days. The cottage was clean and well equipped and the owner was very friendly and helpful, giving us ideas of places to visit and local pubs to eat in.
