I was last night in the restaurant. The hotel and restaurant have a very picturesque lakeside location and the restaurant is really quite quaint and cosy. I have to add that I am a very keen meat eater and am particularly fond of game when in season. Whilst my meal started off well with a lambs lettuce salad, the main course of a reh pfeffer and schnitzel however left a lot to be desired given that the establishment prides itself on a "gepflegte Kuche", The kitchen needs a big kick up the backside and what I received would not even pass nowadays for motorway canteen fare. The whole dish could just as easily have been taken out of a supermarket microwave ready meal pack. For CHF 36 in an area where the cost of running a business is not exactly high, one would expect a lot better. Firstly, the amount of meat was skimpy. The schnitzel was fair but the pfeffer was plagued with fat and the speck only added insult to injury. The maroni and rotkraut can only have come out of a coop pack whilst the risotto was produced by who knows who or what. Either the people in charge of the kitchen come from the end of the earth or they are trying to conn the customers. A real shame because the setting is really nice and the service is not bad either. The kitchen however needs as I said a big kick up the backside.
