The first thing to say is about the location, it really is stupendous and totally exceeded our expectations. We just couldn't stop looking at the views, both from our hotel and from the main square in Taormina.
The hotel itself is very Sicilian in decor, which we both liked. We booked a classic room but were upgraded on arrival to a deluxe room in the Grand Palace, which was very comfortable and had a large terrace. The hotel is about 15 minutes in a car outside Taormina, which makes it feel more peaceful, but we certainly felt that a car enabled you to get the best out of the area. There is a free and frequent courtesy bus, which we didn't use as we already had the hire car, but it seemed to be very popular. The site on which the hotel stands is very hilly and you need a little bit of nerve at the start to park your car on what seems to be a 1 in 3 hill!!
The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the barman and the pool attendant. And it has to be said that the pool area is wonderful, never seems to get over busy. There is a deep water pool and a shallower salt water pool. Towels are provided free of charge.
Breakfast was plentiful and quite varied. We used the snack service by the pool several days and found it to be quite adequate. We only tried the dinner buffet on our first night, it was fine in terms of quality but we did find it rather expensive and in any case used the car after that to go into Taormina each night, where there is masses of choice of restaurants.
We did trips in the car on 3 days, all were good - these were to Taormina (Greek Theatre etc), top of Mount Etna, Savoca hilltop village (where some scenes from the Godfather were filmed) - however, go in the early evening when visitors have gone even if the churches are closed, it is so peaceful! - and to the Alcantara Gorge. We did Etna from Rifugio Sapienza, drove there, took the cable car to the top station and then a four wheeled vehicle to the top of the crater - 60 euros per person, but very well worth it. In Taormina, we found lots of nice eating places, our favourite was one called Gattopardo.
Our advice would be to:
a) if you have a car, check the Lumbi car park location on google maps before you go, you will use this a lot going into Taormina, there is an excellent shuttle bus service from the car park to the main street and back again until late at night.
b) again, if driving, check the location of the hotel on a map and don't use a sat nav, we found it very easy to find with google maps although others on trip advisor seem to have struggled with sat navs, when you see the location you will understand why!
Overall, this was a lovely clean hotel, beautifully situated, with great staff - a really special holiday. We would certainly return.

Room Tip: If you want a room with a completely private terrace, you need to choose a deluxe room or suite, but all rooms have lovely views and balconies as a minimum.

Just back from a 12 night stay in the Hotel Baia Taormina Put simply this is a really relaxing and idyllic location with the best hotel staff we have ever encountered. From the porters, to cleaning staff to bus drivers, dining room and bar staff and especially the reception staff we were treated with the best service ever encountered in any hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. Thank you so much for everything.

The Hotel is located overlooking the bay of Taormina and is about a 15 min bus trip to Taormina Centre. We used the bus each day and had many wonderful evenings strolling Taormina and dining in different restaurants each night. We did dine in the hotel on the first night and really enjoyed the food However we do enjoy trying different restaurants and Taormina has an abundance a Trattorias, Piaazerias etc so lots of choice.

The room we had was a delux room in the Grand Palace and had one of the most stunning views from any hotel room I have ever seen. The room was serviced each day by very friendly cleaning staff and the cleanliness of the room is to be complimented. Our balcony was equipped wit table and chairs and two sun loungers complete with comfy cushions. We coultd sunbathe on the balcony and enjoy the stunning views across Taormina Bay. The hotel has two swimming pools or use the steps down to the sea to enjoy the tranquility of the med on the rocks below.

Places to visit are F. D'Agro (where scenes from "The Godfather" movie were shot) Hotel courtesy shuttle will bring you there and back. Castlemola which sits perched above Taormina is the most stunning location on the island Bus fare €1.80 each way or €15 taxi fare ( Bus schedule for Taormina -Castlemola-Taormina available at Hotel reception) Isola Bella is a beautiful location and is well worth a day on the beach. We used one of the local hotel areas which cost €5.00 for the day which covered sunbed, changing room, Parasol and use of beach shower. A stunning day out to be had here. The area is reached by cable car from near the Courtesy bus drop off point and the cars run every 15 mins €2.00 euro one way or €3.50 return per person.

Taormina is a fantastic location but be prepared for expensive shopping. Food prices are reasonable and are fairly similar in all restaurants. Try the Re di Bastoni pub on Corso Umberto for a few relaxing drinks and watch the world go by.

Breakfast at the Hotel Baia Taormina consisted of cold cuts and cheese as well as scrambelled/boiled eggs and bacon each morning Breads, crossiants and pasteries fruits, yougarts, teas and juices completed the fare. While the choice did not vary while we were there I have to say that we enjoyed our breakfast each morning.

All in all we could find no fault with this Hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday.

Room Tip: Choose a delux room in teh Grand Palace side

Location and setting of this hotel was simply stunning! Even after 5 days, still kept taking photos of the views!! Although slightly out of town, this makes the hotel the haven that it is. On a steep hill (handbrake starts really put to the test!), the view from the room, and terraces was breathtaking. We had a deluxe room, with balcony and sun loungers, which was great. Had no problems with shuttle bus into town, and found all hotel staff to be very helpful and courteous. My only recommendation would be to have more tables outside for breakfast, as such a beautiful terrace, but only 5 or 6 tables outside, and unfortunately we struggled everyday to eat out there.
That aside, we had a fantastic stay, and would highly recommend this hotel, and do hope to visit again.

Dear Guests from Berkshire,

It is an honour for us to read such a feedback of a wonderful stay.
Let me tell you that you have perfectly understood the concept of our hotel: being so close to Taormina but in the same time located in an heavenly area where you can share the magic of a generous nature. We also thank you for the suggestion about more tables, we will surely increase them especially now that the beautiful season is exploding!
Thank you once again and best regards, we look forward to welcoming you again

Clinging to the cliff face, with every chance of a sea view, we enjoyed our four-day stay in April, just as the weather was starting to hot up! Comfortable room with large, though not very private, balcony. Pleasant dining room, buffet-style, with the additional option of choosing a pasta dish cooked 'while-you-watch'. Some of the staff were charming and helpful whilst others disappeared for ages and returned with the wrong thing! The hotel is a long way out of Taormina and the shuttle bus service seemed a bit disorganised and inadequate for the numbers of guests. Get moving early and book your bus in plenty of time!

Dear Guests from Stourbridge,

many thanks for having posted your feedback on Tripadvisor.
We are glad you have enjoyed your stay at Baia Taormina.
As for comments on part of the staff it would have been more useful if you had made an axample, but you can contact us directly to do this if you wish.
As for the shuttle, it may be that during some days of fantastic weather as recently, it is higly requested but we have already increased the runs to and from Taormina city centre.
We are at your disposal for any further assistance and send our

Great hotel just down the road from Taormina centre, not a problem at all as long as you book the complimentary shuttle bus, hotel is lovely, rooms great, pool nice. Views are amazing from the top of lift down to pool and balcony view was great too, loved sitting out there in the evening.

Would recommend to anyone, even better if you are driving around Sicily.
