The cabin was cleaner than most and the bathroom was in like new conditon. The bed was comfortable but with any cabin, the room had a slight musty smell to it. The cabin was outfitted with a small refridgerator, microwave and coffee maker, but had no inside tables suitable on which to eat off of. Each cabin however, did have an outside picnic table. Added bonus of a line of propane grills for the guest to use, gratis. The indoor fireplace was pleasant, but only "Duraflame" type logs are allowed to be used. No outside fireplaces for private use. Our biggest dissapointment was the lack of room service/ daily housekeeping. Once you've checked in, you are on your own to take out the trash, make the bed, find fresh towels etc. The owners were quite friendly and provided what you needed, but you had to go to the office and asked for it. In general, I would liken Gilcrest to more like camping in a camper, only no roasting marshmallows. I will add that you would be hard pressed to beat their weekday rate.

We've stayed here here 2 years now for Laconia Bike week and love it. We now have the whole place rented w/friends during that week each year. Gary and Julie go WAY beyond the norm to make it convenient & comfortable. After riding all day we come back & have a fire out back by the river, or cook on the grills(provided) and have fun the rest of the night..
Most definitely would suggest a stay here no matter what you like to do in the mountain area.

This was our 5th or 6th visit to Gilcrest over the years and each time we have enjoyed ourselves. We personally wouldn't consider any where other than Gilcrest because it is neat and clean and the management are great people.

Friendly, Totally clean, acommodating, (it will be there before you ask for it!!)
Went with wife, Son, daughter-in law, 3 yearold twins, 6 yr old boy. plenty to do in the area, plenty of room to do things on the grounds and with these rate could still afford the area attractions. Try the Sunset Grill down the street!

We come up for Laconia Bike Week, this is our second time here, it's a great place to stay away from all the bike noise, staff are extremely friendly and more than willing to make your stay a relaxing one, very clean and relaxing atmosphere. We stayed at the Hampton Inn for 3 nights prior to arriving and had a better nights sleep at Gilcrest Cottages than what we did at the Hampton Inn, even if it was fancier and more expensive. Would and will definetly stay here again.
