We arrived in Kalaw at 3 am, and someone from the hotel took us to this hotel. We slept for a few hours in really comfortable and cosy beds, then we took a HOT SHOWER. Yes that's right. It was boiling hot, it was amazing. Kalaw is in the middle of nowhere yet it still had a hot shower, nowhere else in Myanmar had a hot shower that we stayed in. Then we went to one of the best breakfasts I had on my whole trip. It was massive and very good. I eat a lot and it still filled me up. Then we went trekking.

This was one of the first places we stayed in Myanmar, and it was just lovely. Room had no AC, but with the cool weather of Shan State, it was not necessary. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful. There's a nice porch upstairs to sit outside on. Kalaw is small, so location is not really an issue. $25.

This guest house was the best we stayed in in the whole of Myanmar. The owner looked out for is arriving late by bus. Rooms downstairs are functional and can't beat the price. Breakfast is really good and fresh too. Highly recommend this place. Staff are all great.

We stayed two nights here, one night in a downstairs room and one night in an upstairs room. The upstairs room was more expensive $35 but brighter, warmer and a bit nicer with a double bed, the downstairs room had 3 beds in it, was colder, darker and seemed a bit more dated but cheaper at $25. Both rooms had comfortable beds and a TV and were really clean.

Reception was helpful and the main lady spoke excellent English. Staff were friendly and really accommodating and made breakfast for us even though we had woken up late, maybe because they knew my boyfriend wasn't feeling too good.

Breakfast was amazing, eggs cooked to your liking, loads of fresh fruit, these delicious cheesy puff type things, and good toast and rice plus coffee or tea.

Location is perfect, in the centre of town and a few minutes walk away from some good restaurants.

Would recommend and stay here again.

We randomly met one English dude in town who had been visiting Burma every year for the last 19 years or so and told us that Eastern Paradise was the best hotel in town in his opinion.

The Eastern Paradise Hotel is around a 10 minute walk from the train station, in the center of town. Kalaw is pretty small, so naturally you are close to restaurants, the market and there's even a nice bakery around the corner.

The rooms aren't luxurious, but they have the basics and are clean. Kalaw gets colder at night, so the mounds of warm bedding are very welcome. Our bathroom was a bit dated, and after a shower the whole floor is wet. But the water is warm, which is much more important here than dry feet. We paid $25 for a twin, including breakfast.

Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and they serve a humungous breakfast. Rather wasteful, actually, but I guess that is just part of their hospitality.

Great place for a night or two before a trek!

We loved this place. The staff is very nice, the rooms are comfy and it's well located, close to the main street in Kalaw. The breakfast here offered something typical: sticky rice with sesame seeds, along the usual breakfast. They also let use the internet for free.

We stayed here for 4 nights in the end, before and after a 2 day trek that we did through Sam's trekking (which was one of the highlights of our month trip here in Myanmar by the way!).

The hotel, is lovely and clean, the staff are all so polite and efficient and the beds are super comfy. It is very cold here at night and when the sun disappears so we spent a few late afternoons in our room tucked up in bed to keep cosy. Bathroom wasnt to great, the shower just trickled out water, but at least it was hot.

Wifi didnt work that often, but the computer they have for free use did so not really a problem.

Breakfasts were one of our best in Myanmar, you get sticky rice which is very tasty!
