En route for the coast from Roccalbegna there is a wonderfully small walled town called Magliano in Toscana. Within the walls is one of the most authentic restaurants in Tuscany. The food in the restaurant is magnificent and the service is excellent. The Antipasto is remarkable with about 12 differing dishes to choose from which are to share. Given the wide range it is easily possible to share this course with a vegetarian as my wife happens to be. Especially exciting is the pecorino cheese served with a sauce of chocolate and truffle. After this try out the truffle or fresh Porchini pasta followed by one of the main courses. The fillet steak that I had today was tremendous. Washed down with a half litre of the local Scansano red it was a terrific lunch spanning two glorious hours. Unfortunately I didn't make it to the coast but satisfied myself with the views of the med coast and the Island of Giglio whilst also partaking of a delicious ice cream at the equally terrific Geletaria / bar just off the small Piazza. If you are in the area I highly recommend the restaurant and also the Gelateria. A brilliant lunch and afternoon.

We were recommended this place by our nerby hotel but had no expectations. We were simply blown away by the food. They do a huge very tasty mixed started then a choice of pasta dishes and mains all based on local specialities like porcini mushrooms, truffles, wild bear, rabbit, lanb etc but every dish we tried was incredible. We made sure to go back on another night Try other dishes and were not disappointed. This place is a dream come true for those who love Tuscan food. You must try the tagliolini al tartufo... Yum!

Had a great meal at this very popular local restaurant at Magliano in Toscana. We were the only non-Italian's in the restaurant and no one speaks English, so go with a guide book / phrase book. There is no menu (well not to read!) but the waitress/waiters will tell you what the special's are of the day and you can decide from that. Had the most amazing spinach and ricotta ravioli with sage butter - even our son enjoyed it and he thinks he is allergic to anything green! We drank the house wine and it was very good. We watched people come and go and if you don't book you will most likely be turned away - happened to about 10 groups/couples while we were eating. When you ask for the bill, don't expect anything to be itemized as we were just given a figure on a piece of paper - but Euro 120 for 2 adults + 2 children with wine, apertiser, primi, secondi and dessert was excellent value! Hope you enjoy!
