“Therese's scones”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2012

There is many choices of lovely cakes to have with your cuppa at this little cafe, but my favourite is the scones. Light and fluffy with cream and local made jam, the best I've ever had!
Made by Therese, one of the friendly hard working staff.
So if you want the best devonshire tea in the Dandenongs, head for 'Sassafras Cafe' and try Therese's lovely scones.

“Wonderful Cafe!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2012

I highly recommend the brunch at Sassafras Cafe. Great for a coffee, or a big egg brekkie, but either way don't miss out on the homemade scones, which are to die for. The owner is quite affable and really takes pride in his establishment. We will definitely go back.

Consistently good food at a reasonable price which is why I eat there a lot! BLT is the best. Friendly owners also.

“Best Devonshire Tea in Melbourne”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2012

I first went to this cafe a couple of years ago after trying to go to Miss Marples but not wanting to wait an hour for a table and I'm so glad I didn't wait. The scones were amazing then and they are still amazing now.

The devonshire tea comes with two giant home-made scones (using lemonade), home made strawberry conserve (made by a local woman), double cream and your choice of coffee or a pot of tea. The scones were fresh and delightfully fluffy. The strawberry conserve was divine. I devoured and enjoyed every morsel. This is the only place I will return to if I want to indulge in a devonshire tea in Melbourne....it really is that good.

If you are not a fan of devonshire tea then there are plenty of other choices for you. Quiches, salads, burgers, cakes. The owners really take pride in the quality of all of their food.

The cafe is very relaxed with friendly owners happy to have a chat. Both times I have been there, the cafe has been relatively empty but I believe it has a steady clientele of regulars and can get busy.

There is plenty of parking, on the road and in the car park opposite just off the main road.
