“Outstanding romantic gettaway”
Reviewed April 10, 2014

My wife took me to this great Wine resort in Tuscany, Italy for my birthday.
The place looks like it was taken from an Italian art catalog - every piece of furniture was hand picked and put in the right place.
The room was outstanding, fire place, big tub, huge bed.
The service was outstanding too, tailor-made and the staff was very very good.
The resort manager was the best! She took care of us and from the beginning (reservations) until we left - she realy made our stay fun and pleasant.
We will defenitily go back.

Room Tip: We stayed in room No. 1, great room

We stayed here for three nights in September and I have to say the whole trip was exceptional. From the moment you walk in, with an original Chelsea Davine painting in the foyer, you can tell that it is a very classy place, and you are not let down. The views are phenomenal, and the whole place is really well decorated and has a contemporary, but warm and homely feel to it. We found the food really good, and the bedroom we had (a suite) was divine – massively spacious, with a bath and separate shower, and a four poster-bed! The staff were really helpful and friendly and made us feel very welcome. All in all, I cannot recommend it highly enough. Oh, and the wine was great as well.

This is one of those special boutique hotels that strikes a great balance of style, comfort and service. The property feels modern and stylish, but in a way that is comfortable and well suited to the rural setting. We stayed in a vineyard suite and the room was large and well-appointed. The renovated farmhouse is set on a private hill top providing a view from the room's terrace across a valley lined with vineyards. The entire staff went out of their way to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend this property.

You cannot but fall in love with this place that exceeded all our expectations. Right from our first contact with the hotel to discuss booking, Laura the hotel manager, went above and beyond to make the process smooth and easy and this hospitality continued throughout our stay- in fact, we felt not just looked after, but truly spoilt by her efforts! The rooms and bathrooms are simply beautiful and spotlessly clean with all the finishing touches you would would expect from any large city, luxury hotel. If the weather is bad then the inside lounge areas are cosy and well thought out so that if you want your own space there is plenty of room, but mingling with other guests is an option too. The outside terraces have breathtaking views and this is the sort of place you go to get away from it all, hoping for the kind of weather that would allow for hours on the terrace just taking it all in with a glass, or two. Otherwise, the staff can organise plenty of activities for you in the surrounding areas but i would suggest that you really need a car if you want to do any exploration as the hotel is somewhat out of the way- for us, this was certainly part of its charm. Please also note, i would agree with many of the comments already made- the hotel is not very well suited to young children, being a small boutique hotel which is very quiet, where most guests seem to just want to relax.

Regarding the food, we had two lovely dinners and were impressed that from our room booking the chef had been made aware in advance of our food preferences and automatically arranged alternatives. And, although the menu was set, they happily accommodated a last minute amendment request. If you are staying more than a few nights the food and wine there can feel a little expensive and although on this occasion we didn't try any other restaurants, i think there are plenty within a short drive. Despite some negative reviews about the breakfast, we thought the choice was fantastic, varied and plentiful, and i think that is because the staff at the hotel take this feedback seriously and really strive to make this a place you just don't want to leave. We certainly cannot wait to go back and can only thank Laura and the rest of the team that we met, Mateo, Nico, Roberta and Maria, for helping to make this one of the best all around hotel experiences we have ever had.

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights in August with our 3 month old son and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The resort is very couple oriented and quiet (at least when we were there) - not an issue with our little guy as he slept most of the time, but I felt like we would be disturbing the peace a bit if he was a year or 2 older and wanting to jump around the pool all day.
The setting is really nice. The valley is really pretty but not quite postcard Tuscany. The decor and pool are perfect.

We found the food to range from good to excellent. The highlights being the simpler dishes, like the pastas and lunch menu. The pasta ragu at lunch was one of the better pastas I had in 2 weeks in Italy. The breakfast was great. Laura was aware of past negative reviews and was asking our opinion, so they seemed to be improving the breakfast and it showed. Dinners were good, but maybe some of the dishes were a bit overly complex and trying to be haute cuisine, whereas more simple and rustic dishes might have been better. We ate at the resort all 3 nights, so out of the 12 dishes we had, we loved 3-4, liked 5-6, and probably could do without 2-3 of them. Also, I think we would've preferred a few choices a la carte as opposed to a set 4 course meal. Either way, taste in food is such a personal thing, so my suggestion would be to eat at the resort your first night and then decide for yourself whether to stay in or go out the rest of your nights. Whatever you think of the food, the setting outside where you eat is amazing.

Laura and the staff definitely strike the right balance of attentive service but not being too intrusive, which is great. The surrounding area is amazing to explore. So many hilltop villages, and the coast isn't far away. Get a good map or gps and get out onto some of the local secondary roads and the driving is tough to beat. A great area of Tuscany that seemed off the beaten path. We'd happily stay again.

Room Tip: Vineyard rooms have a nice sunset view.

I am not exactly easy to please travel-wise and normally dont post reviews but I think this piece of heaven on earth really deserves it. Location is breathtaking, with the house on top of a beautiful hill looking down onto the vineyard, decor is stunning, food is great, wine is even better and service is charming and attentive.

It has just a few rooms/suites and it makes for the best couple retreat you can possibly come up with if you are looking for deep deep countryside silence, a small, cosy and very private place full of good wine and olive oil (their own production). great scenery comes for free!

Left with the feeling of having made a great discovery. Give it a try If you are looking for something off the usual copycat travel guides...

I very rarely write reviews but after spending 3 days at Conti di San Bonifacio I wanted to add my experience. I'm not keen on hotels that feel formal or corporate and this felt like being part of a large family or going to a best friends country home. The staff were charming, the decoration exquisite without feeling precious. It was perfect for just lounging around reading, lying by the pool sipping Prosecco watching the sun set or a G&T late into the night. Our room was heavenly, romantic and so comfortable. Our intention was to go exploring somewhere every day but all we wanted to do was stay at the hotel once we arrived and just slow right down... I couldn't recommend it more highly, it was everything I hoped it would be for a perfect romantic escape.
