It's not in or even near a town, but the location is so beautiful when the sun is shining - great food at very reasonable prices and the staff work their [--] off. Rob will quickly attend to any issues to try and provide the best experience for his guests. We had a leaking shower hose and it was fixed within minuted of me telling him. This is a great 'hidden gem'.

This was my fourth stay and my husband's fifth and it didn't disappoint!! If you want to stay in an authentic Old English Inn which appears to be in the middle of nowhere then the Waterman's Arms is your place. The staff are friendly and helpful, the breakfasts are to die for and the beds are more than comfortable. The rooms are quirky because they are fashioned from an old inn but give you every modern amenity. The towels are large and fluffy and the toiletries are locally sourced. The riverside location is idyllic and convenient for trips to Dartmouth and other splendid locations. All in all, our stay could not have been bettered!! I'm looking forward to our next stay.

Room Tip: At Christmas and New Year rooms over the bar can be a little noisy but out of those seasons you can...

Well where can I start. The Waterman's Arms is always a busy place to go. Summer or winter - usually makes little difference. Having popped in for the occasional cold refreshment when passing by we decided to book our staff Christmas Dinner their last year.

Early selection of menu's were provided for all people coming and we were even told if there was any specific items that nobody liked, as long as the staff knew in advance, they would be more than willing to cook something specific if required. - Usual service you might say?

Well - due to some un-foreseen circumstances at work late on the evening of our works meal I was held up from meeting all of my own guest. How embarrassing! I called the pub to say I was running really late. When I arrived, every guest had been personally entertained by the staff. I was rather sad to see that no one had missed me actually - BUT - what Superb Service. The kitchen staff held out for me, all the guest were as happy as could be. The food was not rushed, all came out fantastic and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Several people stayed overnight and started the following day out with a superb selection of home cooked breakfasts, fresh fruit, selection of juices and cereals. Even our nearly two year old son had been kept happy all evening between the guest and the staff. (we now have a singing penguin as a result of the entertainment)

Since then - on separate occasions every member that attended our Christmas meal has returned for meals and always compliment on such great service.

During the summer period the pub has a fantastic play area where adults can eat lunch and allow the children to play in the safe closed in area, whist being able to enjoy the scenery and riverside fun.

As a country pub staffed by humans, mistakes do occasionally happen BUT, in the rare case this does happen, the matter is always turned into a laugh and problem quickly put right.

The Waterman's Arms really is a great Local Pub that serves locally grown and farmed produced. Much of which is just doors away!

As a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen myself - I am Happy to say I Personally Recommend if you haven't already - Try the Waterman's Arms. I am sure, just like us - you will want to return again and again.

We spent a weekend at the Waterman's arms on a B&B basis. A beautiful riverside location is its main strength, although the rooms were good quality and the pub has a good range of cask ales. The location is conveniently situated for trips to Dartmouth and Paignton and we had a very enjoyable weekend. The only slight disappointment was the quality of the food. The menu was quite ambitious but the quality of the food served was disappointing.

We have just returned from a weekend visit to the Waterman's Arms. This is possibly our 4th visit. We cannot fault any part of our stay. The staff are so welcoming. A brilliant comfortable room that has everything you need. It is set in a calm, relaxing location. A bolt hole to unwind. We eat both evenings in the pub and we were not dissapointed.

Room Tip: We stayed in the annexe rooms and are well reccomended.

We visited for two nights over the 2nd May bank holiday weekend and had a really lovely weekend. The room was large (family room) and very clean. The beds were comfortable which is a big plus as I have a bad back so an uncomfortable bed ruins any time away. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We ate in as it was easier than driving down narrow lanes to get to Totnes or anywhere else but the food was good value and well cooked, not gourmet but good pub food. Breakfast was excellent. Would go back there anytime and I don't say that very often!

Room Tip: We chose a family room as we like plenty of space.
