My girl friend and i stayed here for two nights in early November.
Quite simply ALL the staff could not do enough to help ( but not in your face) happy polite knowledgeable. All our meals where superb , ( i am one to complain if not ) . The room was lovely clean fresh tidy functional.
NO COMPLAINTS at all....the bill was also less than i would have expected .

Room Tip: They where all good from what i could see

We ate here while staying in the area in September. Lovely pub, excellent beer and cider, good service and a huge plate full of food.

On the whole we would have preferred less food and better quality. We opted for the 'Can't Decide ? Slice of each joint' Sunday Lunch and to be fair there did seem to be a slice of each of three joints but unlike the servings of veggies and the pots of mint, apple and horseradish sauces they were very small and overall the food was pretty bland. The excess of sauces helped give a bit of flavour to the veggies though and the roast potatoes did shine out as excellent.

There are so many good reviews here that if we were in the area we would probably give the food another go but would give the Sunday Roast a miss. We'd prefer to give 3 and a half stars but opted for 4 due to the location, ambiance, drinks and service.

the first time I stayed here I was the only guest and I reckon the Chef was away for the night too ! but the room was splendid and so was the Breakfast on the morn so I gave it another chance and was proved right . Maybe sticking to the local food helped but their beef casserole with dumplings and braised red cabbage did the trick on a cold winters night with the River flowing fast and high outside .This is an away from it all spot and a charming one. Its also friendly and very good value. They generally have a brazier burning outside for intrepid smokers to huddle round and if you are alone as I was you will find the pub dog will be your closest friend if you throw a piece of wood for him , not just any piece mind he has to choose it !

Room Tip: ask for an upstairs room

Just want to thank Rob and his team for a lovely stay on the positive side . Warm Welcome , log fires , good food and real ales on the not so positive , drinks a little pricey and little disorganised . but this added to the character . There are some new members of the team that are lacking in experience but I am sure after a bit more training will be a complete asset to the Watermans Arms team .

Special thanks to Zac for being a star and for his professionalism

See you soon

This is not a review about accommodation.
Been to the watermans many times for a beer as the location is fantastic in the summer, i really struggle to think of a nicer place. In the winter they always have a log fire going and the atmosphere in excellent. Extremely dog friendly they even have their own character (usually curled up by the fire) who likes to pretend to give you a ball whilst never letting you have it.

Tried the food for the first time on saturday and was more than happy with it, it's not fancy but it's good, large portion sizes and it's not over priced. The staff are also very friendly.

Hard to fault the place really.

Just passing and stopped for an evening meal. Not haute cusine, just honest pub food, well presented and in good portions, with a decent beers and friendly staff.

I cannot comment on accommodation, but the place is certainly in a lovely setting at the head of an inlet.
