Despite the fact that our room was on the ground floor about 3 metres from the main road it was surprisingly quiet. The room was very nice even if the the bathroom sink could not be drained. Mosquito nets ensured that you did not encounter any unwanted crawling or biting creatures at night. The staff were friendly however not in any great rush. Breakfast was a hit and miss affair and you rarely got what the menu said was included without some prompting. The waiter almost always seemed to be a little overwhelmed, that was until a Lao national staying at the hotel required service. He was served well before all other despite the fact he had sat down well after everyone else. Must have been someone important, maybe a hotel inspector (Faulty towers). The looked to be a cut above others we saw when walking around town. The restaurant has a good reputation and I could not disagree. The food was nice if not a little expensive compared to others in Laos. Still cheap however by western standards. The Mekong river is located less than 100 meters to the rear of the hotel but only a brave man would attempt to walk through the backyard of the hotel. It is something akin to a bomb site.

I stayed at the Inthira Hotel recently and was very happy with my room, the food and the service from the staff. I would certainly stay there again and have no hesitation in recommending the Inthira to anyone visiting Champasak.

I have just eaten at the restaurant, and despite being on the road, the bar and restaurant area are nice, clean and enjoyable. Moreover it is almost the only one in Champassak.
