“A Refreshing Trip for a Family”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2012

I chanced upon a promo for an overnight stay at Chateau Royale Batangas at Ensogo. I took advantage of the offer not only because the picture of the log cabin was promising, but mainly because it was out of town....Infact, one of the best admired part of the trip was the breezy blowing of clean fresh air and the lovely smell of pine trees along the road and around the whole vicinity.

It was very easy to find, had very strict security and also had very prompt and accommodating staff. The log cabin I was so looking forward to was just fine...twas made of wood and over time, it is expected to have been worn out by the elements. Nevertheless, the smell of being in a house made of wood was authentic.

There was so much to see and so much to do. They have swimming pools that my 2 engaging girls dared the morning after because we arrived around 3 pm and it was raining the first day. They have a playground, wall climbing, mini zoo, orchidarium, vegetable patch where i bought freshly picked bitter gourd, cauliflower, bell peppers and pechay; a man made lake for fishing, numerous religious statues that we failed to keep count of, a floating restaurant (which was not operating), patches of gardens, small lagoon with fishes and turtles my kids adored. My hubby brought his bike, warmed up by jogging around before he strode back and forth the vicinity for his morning exercise. I did brisk walking while the kids took turns with the camera taking marvelous picture of the beautiful flowers and nature in its splendor.

The package came with dinner and breakfast. The choices were few but the quantity was filling even for a bulky grown man. Their coffee was great....i had to ask for seconds. The staff at the restaurant were equally kind and accommodating....always smiling...

All in all it was a great experience for the whole family. We intend to come back and bring the rest of the brood soon.

Room Tip: There were row houses across the fishing area which were a bit bigger than the log cabin which i gue...

We stayed 2 nights at this resort because of a wedding at nearby Tagaytay. Many in the wedding party stayed here before and after the wedding because it's more affordable then the hotels in Tagaytay. We didn't have any problems checking in because it was late at night and July is not peak season in the Philippines. We were assigned 2 detached cabin, which were close but better if we had those that were side by side.

The cabin was nice but poorly maintained. They did not take good care of the wood, especially the exterior doors. We had one with a double bed and a bunk bed in the corner. The sheets were clean and towels were provided. Room service was prompt when we requested for floor towels/rugs (it was wet and raining that day) and extra bath tissues. There were some bugs and I blame that on the poorly maintained interior that can't keep the bugs out. There's a sofa but it looks old and worn. There is also a television but the channel choices are very few. Can you believe found only 1 Filipino (English) channel? The rest are other Asian channelS.

In the morning the complimentary breakfast is served at their main building which is a 2 min walk from where stayed. I don't mind the walking but since it was raining and foggy ( and we have children) we asked for the shuttle to pick us up. It never came so after 30 minutes of waiting (and the skies cleared a bit) we decided to just walk. The breakfast is very basic, nothing to be excited about. As people already mentioned, there were flies in the main lobby and the furniture are old (the leather sofas were not maintained). It's the Philippines and the lobby is wide open but they should have done something to make the lobby area less attractive to bugs. They have a piano, which my kids tried but were disappointed because some keys are broken. We were not able to try the pool and other attractions because of the weather but it seems worth trying out. The garden is very nice too.

All in all, The staff are helpful and this was probably a very beautiful place when it first opened. However they need to pick up on their maintenance of the place. It's not a bad place to stay especially if you are in a group, just don't expect hotel-like accomodations here.

Chateau Royale is very near Tagaytay. The cottages was spacious and comfortable. The CR has it's hold and cold shower although the place is quite old. The beds where also spacious. We just noticed that our has a lot of drawers and cabinets which are not need. I supposed the cottages should have its own kitchen and sink, but they removed it. Maybe because they want the restaurant to earn some income.

There are cottages which are located away from the lobby. You would be required to walk to get to the lobby where the pool and restaurant is located.

Some of the activities there are closed such as the floating restaurant and fishing. You can take the orchidarium tour in the morning. They also have billiard tables which you could rent out(Expensive) and rock climbing activities. You can visit alot of green house that has lettuces as plants and other vegetables. I guess that's all there is!

Room Tip: choose a room near the lobby! No telephone lines inside the rooms! so better get everything that you...

Went to Chateau Royale for our teambuilding. We rented 3 rooms and we're not disappointed. Rooms are B-I-G and s p a c i o u s!!! The male staffs are great, i asked for cups, spoons, forks and plate and they all provide that without charging me a cent =) We enjoyed going around the place because you'll have a lot to see like trees, then trees, and the organic veggies, then the trees again - the place is so huge that the management needs to revamp it to make the place exciting and worth the trip. Overall, this place is ok. nothing to make it special.

Chateau Royale says that it has a new GM who has vast experience in the HRM industry. That's a lot of BS. Your new GM should have trained your staff well. Nice place, lousy service. We asked to borrow 4 glasses for our room because your rooms had no glasses. We were told outright "no, we don't allow that." We had to lose our temper and threaten your staff and even demanded to see your night manager Meng who was too much of a coward to come and face us. NO GLASSES FOR GUESTS! Secondly, your veranda dining room is full of flies! Disgusting! And lastly, I walked in and chanced upon your bartender mixing someone's iced tea. He took the spoon, dipped it into the iced tea, tasted it and placed the teaspoon back into the glass! More disgusting! Granted that he was making something for himself, wasn't he supposed to do that during his off hours and not at the bar in front of guests??? How come your GM does not know that??? Your guests are walking around, your staff do not have the courtesy to greet your guests good morning / good afternoon. And your pool!!! It's over chlorinated! It's murky! You don't need a slow upgrade ... you needed an upgrade yesterday!

Room Tip: Save your buck. Go somewhere else.

I highly suggest that if you'll be staying here, choose the day tour only. One can be roam around the vicinity. They have a huge place and location is along the highway so you'll never get lost. The bathroom/Shower room/ Locker room are in just one place and it is not recommendable that you leave your things esp. valuables inside the lockers because some of the locks can be opened by the other guests. Furthermore, almost all of their lockers are broken. Overall, the place is okay, value for money is fine, facilities are okay but they need to maintain it.
