“A real gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2013

We stayed at the Ziwa Lodge in early September - a real family atmosphere with luxury touches (especially the beds and service we received). Genuinely warm-hearted, down-to-earth family and staff who run the lodge - meeting them all, especially Ralph and his family was one of the real gems of our trip to Kenya. The food and the showers are to die for - cannot thank the staff enough for looking after us and providing us with such good food - especially the 'bush' breakfasts which my 70 year old mother really enjoyed. The food was excellent - hope Joseph the chef stays on as will definitely stay there if I return to Kenya. Lodge is a few kilometres out of Nakuru - a really peaceful place but close enough to get to Nakuru easily.

We stayed at Ziwa on Saturday evening and had a truly wonderful time...sadly our driver was late so therefore we were too. We made a quick call to the owners and the chefs stayed on. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to our room.

The rooms are beautifully decorated - really luxurious but not pretentious in anyway. The whole Lodge has this feel to. Our dinner was a BBQ and was lovely - a nice mix of Kenyan and Western dishes and the house wine was good too. After dinner we relaxed in the 'lounge' area before retiring to bed, whilst we'd been out the room had been turned down and a hot water bottle placed in our bed! Such a lovely touch and the world most incredible pillows, it actually felt like the bed was giving you a hug.

The next morning breakfast was served on the veranda overlooking the dam and was tasty - the chef makes fabulous omelettes! It was so relaxing we must have sat there for well over an hour just soaking the peaceful calm around us. As my partner said..."it really is good for your soul".

Thank you so much, we will definitely be back soon and we both agreed it would be a wonderful wedding venue!

My husband and myself stayed for 3 nights at Ziwa. The accommodation is absolutely perfect - the most comfortable pillows we have ever slept on; a fantastic shower and wonderful bathroom; superb furnishings; a beautiful African dining room; excellent food; and superb hospitality from the owners. What more to say....except thank you to our hosts.
