We stayed at Magomechaya for 3 nights in Jan 2012 and it was cold! the town was blanketed in snow! So our problem was the cold. Despite our room having a good little heater, as there was only one other guest staying there at the time the rest of the place was not being heated so just to go to the toilet you had to rug up! Thank god for heated toilet seats! Our other problem was that perphaps because it was winter or maybe its like this all year round but the shops shut early, like 4pm so if you havnt organised dinner before then, you will likely go hungry! (as we did on our first night!). The staff were helpful and had good english but were not around much so we had to call the bell for assistance. Overall i recommend staying here, it was mainly the cold that bothered us the most! Also, keep in mind that magomechaya is located adecent way up the steep main cobblestone street which for us was covered in snow and slippery ice so getting a suitcase up there was difficult as walking is the only option.
