The zoo itself isn’t US standards, but the animals seem well cared for and love eating the food from the visitors. The highlight by far is the baby cub experience! Well worth the $85. You get entrance to zoo, food for animals, beverage, souvenirs, and time to hold 3 baby cubs. Today I held a 3 week old lion, and 7 week old panther and Jaguar. Can’t do that at home!!

This is the best zoo that I have found that allows you to get close to the animals. For around $70 you can play with baby leopards, tigers and panthers.

We enjoyed our second visit to Zoologico de Vallarta more than the first. This is a zoo that gets you very close to the animals. We bought the bag of food for the animals. I only realized the day after that the bag showed what food to feed to which animals. I really enjoyed giving the giraffe bread. I had already given away all the carrots. The animals seemed to be gentle about taking the food. Although I didn't trust the hyena or a few of the other animals like the ostrich. They were a little too enthusiastic about getting the food. It is true that some of the animal enclosures seemed like a drab place, particularly for the Rhesis monkey, guinea pigs, and the bunnies. The monkey seemed a little sad but it enjoyed the carrots. I was surprised by the lion and tiger in 1 cage that seemed to be buddies. A coati was running around loose but it may have been from the local area. If you like zoos, I recommend a trip to this zoo.

We have been to the zoo 4 times over the last 10 years. This last time with our grandchildren, and it’s was disgusting. The bathrooms didn’t flush, sinks were missing, no paper towels and in the upper bathroom at the snack bar, there was no running water to wash your hands or paper towels. One third of the cages were empty and left dirty but the worse was the smell of urine. It was so strong we had to cover our noses most of the time. We rushed through the visit and left early. We used to recommend it, but no more. Go to the botanical gardens or the croc statuary, El Cora instead.

When we got there the guy at the desk told us all about the zoo. He was super friendley and spoke great english. He let us walk the zoo on our own as we like to do our own thing. The animals looked great and you get an up clse and personal. We could feed most of he non predators with a bag of animal feed. Than at the end as we paied for the full experience we were able to interact with a lion pup and a jaguire pup. Best expierience we had in Puerto Vallarta the whoel week we were there.
