This is a quaint seaside village, has a wonderful beach and great fishing and other attractions. The town has nice restaurants but not overrun with "tourist attractions". the Resort is a real gem and quiet and pleasant oasis where you can barbecue and sit by the pool and enjoy the warm evening and good company..John and Rosa are wonderful hosts and make you feel right at home. You not only improve your tennis game, enjoy good company, but also get a unique insight into the local culture .

We were very surprised to find such neat place in Melaque. Quick to make friends, making sure our needs were met and non ending tennis outings!
The hotel, so colorful and welcoming. No need to go out for entertainment. Nice unannounced parties. John and Rosa, the perfect hosts. A complete adventure.
I do not stop telling my friends about it.

Room Tip: Upstairs to observe the beach.

The El Palmar resort was my home away from home for 2 weeks. The suite was perfect for relaxing, fixing meals, and was just 10 steps from the pool! The resort is just a short walk from the village of Melaqué, which was fun to explore. You can take one of the bikes to make the trip quicker.

The best thing about El Palmar is that it's small, so you get to know the other guests and as a solo traveller, it was nice to share our daily experiences. You always have a place by the pool, and it's never noisy. A GREAT place to relax and enjoy Mexico.

We have stayed at el Palmar four times and each has been better than the last! John and Rosa LaPointe are wonderful hosts--how many hotels present you with a cold beer on arrival? Although the resort is perfect for tennis players, non-players will have lots of fun in the Melaque area--swimming, riding el Palmar bicycles in the flat town, snorkling at nearby beaches, practicing your Spanish on the considerate locals, eating at the many very good restaurants (from $ to $$$), and, of course, shopping. For the overly-intense tennis players, Rosa is a fully qualified medical doctor as well (fixed my shoulder just fine....).

The rooms are very nice and each has a full kitchen should you choose to eat in. Many markets are available nearby--make sure you cook up some prawns and veggies with your group on the patio BBQ! The clay tennis courts are easy on the body and you can get optional lessons and play with a group of your own level in addition to competing with the challenging locals.

I have been fortunate to be able to bring groups of tennis players from Victoria to El Palmar for 7 days of great tennis and relaxing fun in the sun many times over, hosted and managed by John and Rosa Lapointe. Everyone, whether they are novice or experienced players enjoy tennis each day, we are driven there (a quick 15 min drive), given lessons/introductory clinics and play tennis for a at least two hours each morning with each other and some of the locals. For those who love the game and want to have an ultimate tennis holiday, as well, eat at some fabulous restaurants, do some cycling around town, relax or visit and experience a day of snorkeling, this is definately the place to be! The Ocean is just a step away, each suite is tastefully decorated with lovely views of the ocean, and the beautiful courtyard. This holiday destination whether for tennis or just getting away is one that brings you back each year! Thank you John and Rosa for your kind and gracious hospitality. Best Regards, Terri Kirillo
