“Don't go!”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

Saw 4 live butterfly's and 5 or 6 dead ones! Paid a lot of money to get in and managed to entertain kids for less than 1 hr. Run down, by untidy and outdated. Wish I had checked trip adviser first! Wouldn't recommend going!

“How does this survive?”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

Oh dear, what a shame, this looks like a place struggling to survive, run down and with lots of maintenance needed. The animals all looked well cared for and clean, clearly the staff are rightly prioritising what resources they have in looking after the animals, but for this to survive investment is badly needed in the buildings. There were very few butterflies to be seen, and the admission price was not justified by what is on display.

The craft centre was equally tired and the selection of shops not what I expect to see in a craft centre. With the growth in rural crafts in recent years only one shop justified the title of "Craft Centre", and the centre of that area is dominated by a large childrens soft play area. Judging by the noise and activity, that is the profitable attraction here.

The food on offer in the cafe was good but not exciting; the cafe is large and clean, but the smell of cooking permeated the whole area making it not the most attractive place to be.

We left feeling sorry for the place and the staff; clearly they are doing their best with what they have but the owners need to invest heavily if this is to survive.

“Poor value for money”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

Just back from a visit to butterfly world-think most of them were infact the other side of the world as we only saw 10 in there and one of those was dead, paid for a family ticket and didnt quite know what to expect really. The whole site is indeed very run down its like someones back garden,we did enjoy the meerkats being fed as well as the otters but after that it was down hill and all over with in 30 mins,we then decided to go in the cafe for lunch which was also really dissapointing-all in all dont waste your money go to cotswold wildlife pk or roves farm both of which were much better

“Butterflies, seem to have migrated”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

I took my daughter to Butterfly World yesterday. Ok hold my hands up a have butterfly phobia, on paying entrance fee, enquired if there was a different entrance to animal enclosure, very rudely told NO!!!!. Ummm my daughter and her two children went in, they saw at most four butterflies, However on a different note, having been involved in crafts for most of my life, loved the craft shops. Firstly my grandaughter painted a candle holder, she then dipped a candle, lovely and then drew a design onto to name plates for her bedroom door and her brother, this very funny chap and his wife, told us funny stories, whilst he went over her design. All of the crafts have to be paid for, its their living.Butterfly House a rip off. A Pet Shop on the same site had the most bored girl working. Bought loads of stuff for my pet parrots, not interested, think some customer service training needed. Go here for the crafts, not the butterflies. One star for butterflies, five for crafts. Didn't see animals, so can't comment
