“Simply the best!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2013

Our family has stayed with Patrick and Eric at Carpe Diem 3 times, and this is the second time I have reviewed them. I can honestly say that every stay has been a pure pleasure. Our family has travelled all over Europe and in general we have made a rule of always exploring new places, but Carpe Diem and the surrounding region has been the exception. So much so that we booked our last stay a year in advance; thats how much we wanted to be able to return! If we weren't moving back to the US we would have booked rooms for next year again. Patrick and Eric have captured the spirit of the Bourgogne countryside in their beautiful B&B. Warmth, charm, strong character, fine wine and great food, these are a few of the hallmarks of what makes France such a special place, and Eric and Patrick open the doors to this special life to all their guests. I have read here review after review of how fabulous they are, and it's all true. For our family, I would just like to thank Patrick and Eric for making us feel like part of their home, and giving us many warm memories. We will truly miss our annual stay and can only hope for the chance to one day return. Do yourself a favor, don't look any further, book now.

Each of your visit has been "Pure Pleasure". It was great to see the children growing up every year. We shall miss your annual visit at home and hope that even back to U.S. you will come again one day to Burgundy and revisit us. Good luck in your new home.

Patrick and Eric are superb hosts. The house is exquisitely restored, the setting is so beautiful, and these guys are incredible cooks! What a meal they prepared for us--better than anything we had anywhere else in France. And a better value to boot!

The rooms are tastefully done and ooze French history and ambiance. (Not to be trite, but the plumbing and heating worked perfectly, too.) We have stayed in many Gites in France, but none have equaled this three-night visit. I smile just remembering our delightful stay there.

Oh, to return to La Belle France at Eric and Patrick's house once again!

Room Tip: They are all good rooms. Each one is equally lovely and comfortable.

Thank you for taking the time to add a review, we really appreciate your kind comments.

We felt very humble reading such glowing praise. It was our pleasure to have welcomed you and we are so pleased that your stay at home was very positive.

Nevertheless:
We feel sorry for the medium rating about our location...
Being so near 2 World Heritage Monuments: Fontenay Abbey & the Basilica in Vezelay
Being at 10 km from the main A6 Highway from North to South of France.
Being at 20 km drive from the famous vineyard of Chablis
and last but not the least : The medieval village of Noyers

We shall try on a return visit to make you discover better this part of Burgundy.

This was our second visit to Carpe Diem. We were lucky to be able to spend one whole week with Patrick and Eric in one of the most beautiful and tranquil homes in Burgundy. Our visit was perfection from our arrival to our favorite room, The Pastorale, to our final night's dinner. The rooms and home are decorated with artful skill and a decorator's eye. The home and gardens are maintained to the highest standards that are unequaled in any place we have stayed in France. Breakfast is always so beautifully presented and with such thoughtful touches as house-made jams and Eric's yoghurt, which is exquisite. Our dinners were as at our last visit--inventive, appetizing presentations and just the right portions which make each meal with Patrick and Eric a delicious delight. The whole experience makes one feel very special indeed. This is our first day back from our month in France, and we are already fantasizing about our next visit to Carpe Diem with our warm and friendly hosts, Patrick and Eric.

Room Tip: All rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable--you can't miss!

We agree with anything positive mentioned in the previous reviews. We stayed here for two nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Patrick and Eric have created a very charming and peaceful setting. Their home is exquisitely decorated and comfortable. Both Patrick and Eric were very warm and helpful. Patrick was extremely patient with our far less than fluent French and we felt as though he enjoyed helping us learn the language. We ate dinner both nights we were there and the meals were among the best we had during our two weeks of traveling in Burgundy, Provence and Paris. The breakfast was also perfect. As soon as we left, we wished we could return!

We had a very pleasant , comfortable and peaceful stay with a dinner to remember. Having said that, those words don't really do justice to Carpe Diem and to Patrick and Eric.
Our room was equipped to the highest standard with everything we needed. The setting is delightful - a quiet village with the B & B set in lovely gardens.
Patrick and Eric made us feel very welcome - we had tea when we arrived which was most appreciated after a long drive.
We met in the great room before dinner for an aperitif and sat around a crackling log fire. Dinner was superb - great food and so beautifully presented.
We are so pleased we chose to spend the night at Carpe Diem and would love to return.

I was taken to Carpe Diem by some relations who had stayed there before.
Their description of the house and its owners had made me look forward so
much to being there, and I was not disappointed. The beauty and tranquillity
of the house and its surroundings surpassed my expectations, and the warmth
of the welcome from Patrick and Eric made one feel like a very special guest.
The rooms are tastefully and beautifully furnished;the food is superb;the kindness
and thoughtfulness of the hosts is absolutely wonderful. I cannot wait to return!!

Room Tip: My room was in the old stables;double height so nice and airy. Excellent en suite Shower room.

Thank you so much for creating an account on TA and giving your appreciation to the other visitors. We really enjoyed the three days you spent with us here with your relatives. Thank you also for the wines from Astley.
We hope to see back in Burgundy you in a near future.
