This is now my Inn of choice when staying in the area. Really friendly welcome, good beer and food and very comfortable rooms and a great breakfast(all at a very good price too) I must take my rods next time and try out the fishing..!

I would like to highly recommend the Sea Trout Inn - very friendly and attentive staff - excellent food and accommodation. It is so rare these days to receive good customer care and yet it's not rocket science - the staff at the Sea Trout Inn have mastered it and make it look easy. Ideal for a special occasion and with the steam train just down the road you can get away with not using the car. An ideal weekend break too

I cannot recommend this hotel/guesthouse enough.
The location is excellent for exploring Devon and the village of Staverton is beautiful especially by the river Dart which is a short walk from the hotel (I'm 26 years old/male).

One of my favourite places to visit as so peaceful yet plenty to see and do.

The food is excellent serving two menus an informal bar menu (all looked pretty good) and an excellent resturant which serves local food. The fish was fantastic.

The rooms are modern and well presented and the satff are all freindly and accomadating.

This is my third visit and first time commenting on my stay and I will be returning again.

We spent two weeks in Devon and revisited the Sea Trout after a couple of years absence. We booked Sunday lunch and were not disappointed with the choice or quality of the meal. Good size portions and fast efficient service. Good value for money.

A lovely warm welcome. Nice comfortable well furnished room. Good beers well kept & good selection of wines. Great food & really pleasant staff who were always happy to spend time with guests. I'd have no hesitation in staying there again or recommending the Sea Trout to others.
Loved it!

We know the Sea Trout Inn well, as we are often in the area visiting family, but this was the first time we'd stayed. The occasion was a family wedding in the village and it was great to be able to stay nearby. The Inn is the focal point of Staverton other than the church and it's in a very quiet location. The downstairs is a traditional low beamed English pub, with a large family lounge, separate locals bar. As Euro2012 was on and England were playing some of our party were glad to be able to sneak off to watch the match while leaving everyone else in peace! We ate on the Friday evening and the food was good quality, above average for a pub and well presented. There are a couple of ales on tap but otherwise just standard lagers and a choice of two ciders. Our room looked like it had been recently refurbished and we were staying in the most expensive option at £115 a night. It was a decent size with a big bathroom, shower and big new bath. Standard tea, coffee, toiletries. We thought maybe for the price the products could have been a bit better quality. The styling was quite gothic and maybe a bit much for the size of the room but some people may love it! Judge for yourselves from the photos. Bed was firm, so again if you like a firm bed that will suit you. The staff were very friendly and polite and ready to help - even helping us look for a lost camera lens cap! Overall i'd say we had a great time and would recommend The Sea Trout as a good option near Totnes in a lovely peaceful village. You will need a car to get there although the South Devon steam railway does stop nearby. There isn't an option to say 'Good' but that's what i'd score it. Between average and very good.

Room Tip: If you arent eating at The Sea Trout its a £12 taxi into Totnes. You could walk but too dangerous in...

I felt I had to reply to a totally unjustified review of the Sea Trout inn at Staverton by one of your
contributors called ANDROMEDA K. This review goes completely against our experience having
stayed there in June 2011. At this time the rooms had been refurbished so how could it be dingy in June 2012. "the food looked diabolical......" Did this person actually eat here? I have gone though all of this contributors reviews(30). Of these there are only 5 favourable comments and all the reviews are in the South West of England either Plymouth,Devon or Cornwall . It is unfortunate but understandable that Trip Advisor respects the anonymity of its contributors but it is also unfair the staff at the Sea Trout Inn have been subjected to such unwarrented comments
