This is the dark horse of our Costa Rica hotel experiences. There were several nice things about this hotel: the rooms were clean and the shower was hot/good water pressure, and it is right on the beach. We could've done without the bad attitudes of both the Australian(?) woman who greeted us when we checked in and the woman when we checked out. They were not friendly and were both cold. The room we had reserved (the ocean view room) was unavailable since it suffered some damage during the earthquake in September and was leaking due to the rain, though this was not stated on the website when we reserved our room. We were charged the same rate for a non-ocean-view room. When we asked about using the free wireless internet before leaving, the woman at the front desk was rude, acting as if we were asking her for some huge favor instead of just the wireless password that, of course, was included in our room stay charge. The food at Oasis Bar was okay, but the atmosphere reminded us of a bunch of washed up Jimmy Buffetts, and it was a little overpriced for the quality. I ordered a mojito which basically tasted like it was just a bunch of lime - no sugar or alcohol or mint. Also, sleep was near impossible due to the crowing of roosters from between 1am and 7am.
Bottom line: all of the other inconveniences would have gone unnoticed or at least been taken lightheartedly if the managers had been a little more friendly.
