We were hoping to try the Sea Star while we were in Brasilito last week, but it was closed the whole time we were in town, and the owner of the hotel where we stayed said she's pretty sure they went out of business.

First time here...hard to find...off main road use the Super Lopez sign as a turn point. Go alll the way backl to hotel nany...the resteraunte is outdoor seating....all this is worth the food.i had swordfish wrapped with bacon, topped with a seafood risotto tower, crowned wit carmelized onion slivers...the presentation was amazing and the flavor s unbelievable ...alll this for $12...they had soft drinks and beer but no wine...we brought our own and was not charged a cork fee.

We lived in Guanacaste for 3 months. Of all the villages we visited, Tamarindo, Flamingo, Playa Potrero, La Fortuna, Playa Del Coco, Sea Star was the best restaurant we ever ate in. We dined there about 15 times during our stay in Costa Rica. The food is to die for. The presentation is the same caliber as the best French quizines in Paris, France. The sauces the Chef prepares are excellent. I believe the Chef and the Sous Chef are the owners. The Chef usually brings your entrees to your table. It is situated on the main drag in Brasilito, just past the single lane bridge on the west side. You will not be dissapointed eating at this little Tico restaurant. Sea Star is ten times better than Angelinas or Maries which are considered 5 star restaurants by many.

At first glance, sea star looks like a hole in the wall, but what a hole it was!!! Though there is a limited menu, the surf and turf was outstanding. The best lobster tail we ever had... Scooped it up with a fork...no cutting needed!!!! Succulent and sweet, great steak, shrimp and mahi mahi! Prices were very reasonable, service was great.

What a pleasant surprise. After getting a recommendation from another traveller my familty (wife and 3 finicky teenage daughters) and I tried the Sea Star in Brasalito. The food that we were served seemed like it could have been provided to us in any of the finest restaurants in NYC and would not have been any better. First we were provided with a special appetizer on the house. We then had fish, shrimp, beef and chicken for our main dishes that were all sumptuous and presented in an extraordinary manner. I felt like I was seeing plates presented on the Iron Chef on the Food Network. Each of us loved our dishes and cleaned our plates, At the end the bill was presented, and the cost was less than I could believe.
If you are anywhere near Brasalito at dinner time, do not miss Sea Star. You will not be disappointed.
