On the tacky little "strip" in tiny Brasilito, CR - just a few meters from the Pacific, is an eating establishment where, if you closed your eyes and savored the blend of spices and fresh goodness, you would think you were in the finest restaurants in New York or LA. But, on the other hand, if you had closed your eyes you would have missed the exquisite presentation the chef had to have learned in either NYC or LA or maybe Paris. I had one of the nightly specials, Blackened Tuna with Thai vegetables and soba pasta for $14. The tuna was seared to perfection. Two of my friends had the Thai fish and jumbo shrimp for $15. It came with a choice of starch - mashed potatoes, rice or pasta and of course fresh perfectly prepared veggies. The fish hater in the group had the Hawaiian Pork. He finished every delightful bite of pork with a delicate pineapple sauce severed over mashed potatoes.
The service was attentive and courteous. The waiter answered all our questions without hesitation. I had a glass of white wine for only $4.00. Wine prices in this area of Costa Rica are high. I would have expected to have paid double that price.
I have eaten at Sea Star twice now and it has been consistently wonderful.
Our group consisted of one American, one Costa Rican and two Swiss. None of us were disappointed.
Restaurants come and go so quickly here. When an establishment gets it right we need to help them stay in business.
I have attached one picture. Unfortunately it doesn't do the food justice because the exposure is a little off - but you can still see how beautifully it was presented.
