Quiet. Comfortable bed. Nice bathroom and shower. Good room service. Stayed for business - was more than adequate.

Only one real complaint - housekeeping didn't restock the shower gel / shampoo after my first night [I was staying 2 nights]. When I asked at reception [at about 2200 when I returned] for replacements none were available until housekeeping returned at 0800 - but i had to leave by 0730....... this was disappointing.

We recently stayed at the Novotel East Manchester for a two nights stay.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful with the buffet breakfast good value for the money paid for the two night stay.

As per a previous posters comment the room we stayed in was extremely warm.

As a no smoker, entering and leaving the hotels main entrance is not the most pleasant experience when groups of people congregate to smoke right outside the front door. The hotel should set up a smoking area away from the main entrance.

I had read the previous reviewers' comments and the hotel was pretty much as expected (bedroom too warm ; décor a little dated) however comments regarding the helpfulness of staff was also very true and made the stay enjoyable.
The food (dinner and breakfast) was of the quality and price you'd expect in any 3/4 star hotel chain; though having said that the tea served at breakfast was as weak as dishwater, so perhaps ask for a second tea-bag.

There was a wedding in progress when we arrived and we instantly assumed we were going to suffer a sleepless night as it was scheduled to run until 1 am however we were roomed away from the foot traffic and the room layout is well planned so you have a inner door between the corridor and bedroom so we didn't experience any noise in our room, but because the "children's corner" is in the bar/ reception area our evening meal wasn't relaxing as we had to listen to a noisy group of children running around ; the bar staff did try to discreetly keep them in order but there wasn't much more they could do.

The only negatives within Accor's' control were:
1) the rooms are too warm to the extent that our quality of sleep was affected.
2) one of the "twin beds" was a sofa bed and took up a lot of floor space and was quite uncomfortable.
3) Not many TV channels (however if you have kids there was 2 or 3 kids channels)

Positives:
1) Helpful staff
2) breakfast service was quick with adequate choice

Taxi to Salford Quays : £13

This is the third time I have stayed here since July, but never again. Staying for weekend on Saturday morning waited 5 mins to be shown to a table for breakfast (cost £14 each!) then was shown to a table for 3, we were 4, then no food available for 20 mins, hopeless.
2 Private functions on sat evening meant the restaurant was shut, no prior warning for guests, we were told we could eat the same meal but at the bar. For room service this establishment charge £3 extra, no reduction for bar meals, hopeless.
Failed to realise the gravity of my complaint, offered 1 free breakfast next time we stay, hopeless.
This Novotel is useless, better and cheaper hotels are close by. Good bye Novotel Manchester west.

Oh dear I had forgotten how much I dislike Novotels - they are a means to an end no more no less. Expensive, bland, uncomfortable, lots of plastic plants and horrid cheap decor plus a standardised rough wall finish that says "made of pre-fab concrete". No wonder the two founding members of the Accor Group are smiling in the picture in every reception - its because they are making lots of money through providing very little! Rooms are average and beds not that comfortable, the corridors remind me of a prison and the bar and restaurant are similar to a little chef. Breakfast was very undercooked and the sausages were actually raw in the middle - so I didnt bother with them - I doubt that anyone would have cared anyway! I remember a staff clipboard in a Novotel reception in Plymouth a few years ago - it had written on it in flet tip pen - "Welcome to Novohell" - well, nothing much has changed since then - its really not much better than a Campanile (also in the Accor group), just double the price. Stay here if you really must, but its not that nice and quite expensive for no value whatsoever.

Room Tip: Stay at a different hotel if you want to get a better room

..but 3 would be generous. it wasn't a bargain on pricing either and in hindsight I wish I had either booked the novotel city centre, where I have stayed before or picked another property

Good stuff out of the way first -
its well located just off the M62, so easy access to the motorways if you are travelling around that part of the world.
The staff are very good, which has been mentioned before, and try hard to make the customers stay go well.
the reception / shared areas are neat and tidy and seem to be recently refurbished

away from the shared areas, the rooms themselves are a bit weary and in need of freshening
the bed was terrible, there's a lot that can be forgiven as long as a good nights sleep is possible, but that was not the case.
I had booked a family room and expecting 2 queens - had a sofa bed instead - could feel the metal frame through the thin/unsupportive mattress, tears in the blanket...
poor ventilation has been mentioned in other reviews. yes it is that bad. when we stayed the outside temperature during the day was mid teens and low teens in the evenings. even with the windows open and fan provided by staff it was over-warm and stuffy in the room, I would hate to think what it would be like during summer...will not be finding out for sure!

top tip: go for this property if you get a bargain basement price in the depths of winter, otherwise you are better served going for one of the premier inn/travelodge style places or looking elsewhere

I have stayed here several times on business and am quite happy to keep returning.
Novotel is easy to find just off the motorway and there are signs to destination.
I always prior to arrival request a top floor end of corridor room which is peaceful away from others and lifts.
The rooms are spacious and reasonably well furnished and equipped for this type of accommodation.
One little difference....the loo is separate to the bathroom!!!!....a nice move.
Wi-fi is now free which is good.
Restaurant and bar is modern and comfortable and menu has a good selection at reasonable prices.
A good comfortable hotel at reasonable price in pretty village.

Room Tip: Top floor end of corridor room. Car park can get very full some evenings.
