“Most amazing service and warmth”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

We travelled to Rhodes this year to get married last week. We actually booked the Horizon Royal after the hotel on the other side of the Island we had stayed at last year was unavailable. Our first impressions of this hotel were amazing our family suite room had an amazing view and all parts of the hotel were immaculate with fresh towels in the rooms every day and cleaners busy up and down the hotel night and day. Food at all of the restaurants was really good and the variety was brilliant. The thing that made this holiday however was the level of service and great nature of the staff. Firstly we'd decided that after our wedding at Kallithea springs we'd have our reception at the hotel (a little risky however the prices the operator wanted to charge were steep). After being in the hotel 3 days we met Savos the Maître de in the Athena restaurant and Phil the general manager of the hotel. We outlined what we wanted (catering for 45 people) and went into what they could offer. We cannot thank Savos, Phil and the staff enough for the part of the wedding day they delivered in a part of the restaurant that overlooks the sea we couldn’t have got better anywhere (Phil even laid some fireworks on) followed by scheduled entertainment which again was perfect. Secondly as our party had some elderly people and the complex is very large the first day or so was a worry with them getting about etc, however there’s a regular bus service around the complex or in our case you can ring and book and book a golf buggy to take you door to door anywhere you need to go, my father was very grateful for this and the amazing service he received from the drivers. Finally the guys in the bar at the Athena Cristanio & Yanis were amazing as well as service at all the pool bars in particularly the Mythos pool bar were brilliant.
Thanks again guys!:)
In short it’s an immaculate 4+ star hotel, with great food, great service and amazing friendly professional people and loads of things for children to do.

This review is from my mum and dad who visited from the 6th Oct to the 13th;

The Hotel Kalithea Horizon nestles amongst the rocks of a headland, with wall-to-wall views of sea & sun-drenched coastline, twinkling stars & distant village lights at night. Accommodation is in the form of small blocks of 15 or so rooms over 3 stories, all blocks set in lawn & gardens, the room we had was large & bright, air-conditioning worked well, the accessories were vaguely tired & needed updating, but overall in good condition.

Due to the site layout, there are steps to negotiate, but they shouldn’t be too much for anyone who is fairly mobile. Everywhere there are terraces, even the swimming pools! There are some lovely, private sections, the whole place feels uncluttered & is thoughtfully laid out, so no need to scrabble daily for sun-beds.

Entertainment in the evenings is to a pretty high standard, with something to suit everyone, during our visit, we had The Beatles, Tina Turner, The Drifters, tributes, plus El Divo, a classical 3 tenors type act, the ubiquitous fakir & dancing girls, these seemed to do the rounds in the various bars on the site, & all were enjoyable.

Even the most fussy eaters should find plenty of good things to eat here, with an abundance of meat, seafood & the usual salads & vegetables, served buffet style as you would expect. We never managed to eat in any of the restaurants at lunch-time, there was no real need, as the pool bars served much better than average snacks, not the expected burger & chips, chips & more chips.

The drinks list is extensive, cocktails in abundance, all served either by attentive waiter service, or by the slightly more frenetic bar-staff.

The staff deserve a special mention, I have never been to a hotel of this type where the staff have been so genuinely cheerful & most seemed to actually enjoy their job & the interaction with the visitors, all seems to speak good standard English to us lazy Brits, as well as many other languages. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble, the pool bar staff were especially friendly & helpful.

As a family, we have never gone back to the same hotel twice, but are thinking of doing just that next year to explore the beautiful island, I couldn’t imagine wanting to use any other hotel as a base.

this was our third stay and by far the most relaxing,We have done the tourist bit so now heavy duty relaxation.Sun beds aplenty though i still think the hotel should back up their comitnent to remove towels laid before 10. The best entertainment by far is the bar staff at night in the posiaden gianni,Christos,Stamatis, and this year Irinei, All 4 work their socks off and provide great fun for all the residents. And yes we will be back again next year.

Room Tip: the bottom of the complex suits us.

We have just come back from a two week break at the Klithea Horizon. It was brilliant. The staff were friendly and efficient. The place was more than clean and tidy it was well maintained and tastefully done. The food was excellent I could have put on pounds there was so much lovely greek food to choose from. There was lots of walking from one area to another but that was good for the waistline so we didn't mind.

The entertainment was first class and with three areas on the resort to choose from there was plenty of choice. Our favorite was definately the 3 Tenors but we also enjoyed the Tina Turner and Abba tributes plus the celtic ladies not to mention the supremes and thier male side kick who also turned up in th drifters group. We also had a 60's group and a beatles tribute.

We would definately go back again.

Room Tip: Somewhere in the middle of the complex would be best.

My boyfriend and I have returned from an 11 day AI holiday at this wonderful complex.
The complex is large beautifully kept, well run, professional staff and there is something for everyone.
Room - We didnot upgrade to a superior room as we dont really spend that much time in the room so felt it was unecessary. We wish we had. The walls in our standard room were thin and we could hear everything from the adjacent rooms and from above. We tended to eat later so we had a "siesta time" from 5.30 until 7.30, but there was no chance.....our noisy german neighbours put the kybosh on that ! Also an early night was out of the question due to the noise on them returning.....god knows what they do in their rooms and shout outside your door. They also invade your balcony space so try not to get a ground floor.
We did complain to the management but to no avail. We made sure we had good headphones and gave as good as we got .
Could not fault the comfort or cleanliness of the room. Air con brilliant, beds and quilts just right and the mini-bar a nice touch.

Food and Athena Resturant - The standard of food at this hotel is very very high and the facilties for dining are good. I cannot see how people can complain about the food as there is lots of choice, too much if honest. The staff were very efficent and a big thanks to Helene who made my boyfriends birthday very special.

Bar and Drinks - Again lots of choice and no problems with getting served. Cocktails were fun, wine was fine and the local drinks were again not too bad. Watch out for Savas at the main bar and Alexandria at the Athena bar - they will look after you and always with a smile on their faces.

Mythos Pool and Bar - The pools on the complex were of a high standard and we tended to use the Mythos area.
There were plenty of sunbeds but could get noisy with the children. If you like to relax by the pool side then you will be splashed.....never seen so many different nationalities of children out of school, who have no regard for your personal space, privacy and relaxation.
Elethira is a joy to be around and will serve you the good snacks at the Mythos bar.

Nice Touches - the hotel will acknowledge your birthday with some fizzy or a rose and a little note.

All in all its a good value for money establishment. The path to the beach is steep but getting around the rest of the complex is fine.
It is multi-national so just be prepared for this......you just have to be more european ie dont be too polite and queue, and dont worry about knocking into people who will walk straight at you !
If you are a couple looking for a quiet, childfree intimate break then this is not the the place for you........will be going adults -only next year.
I said in the title there is something missing...eerrrm.. I personally think it lacks soul and greek-charm. You could be anywhere in this hotel but we did have a good time and met a few fantastic people who we will be meeting next year.....but not at the Kalithea Royal Horizons.

Room Tip: Go for a superior room. Ask for british neighbours!

We stayed at this hotel complex for one week from 6/10/12 and didn't want to leave. We stayed on an all inclusive basis and were so glad we did. The food was varied, plentiful and well cooked. The local drinks were very good although some of the wine could have been better. All the staff at the hotel were very friendly and attentive. Anything we asked for was dealt with in a prompt and helpful manner. The rooms themselves were spacious and well equipped. The air con was good and very quiet, a real bonus. Our room had a balcony and overlooked the beautiful bay. From what we saw it looked as if all the rooms had balconies and most had a good view. The grounds were beautiful and very well kept. The private beach had plenty of sunbeds and a bar. The swimming pools, we counted seven, were very clean and well maintained and also had plenty of sunbeds. The sports amenities looked very good although we didn't actually use them. The bus stop to Rhodes was right outside and the buses were frequent. Our favourite bar for the evening was next to the main reception. They served up a large variety of cocktails all included in overall price. The waiters were all very hard working and attentive, especially Savas, and the entertainment was first class. We can't praise this hotel enough and will definitely visit again.

Room Tip: The top floor rooms have the best views.

We have just returned from a week in the Royal Horizon and despite reservations about going all inclusive for the first time, it was an amazing holiday. My very first top tip is to upgrade to a superior room before you go. We arrived late at night and were allocated a standard room (by mistake). The staff were brilliant and sorted out the problem straight away the next morning. We got our superior room and I cannot begin to explain the difference between the standard rooom and the superior room. It's almost like being in a different hotel.

The setting is beautiful. Everwhere is spotless and maintained to a very high standard. The food is really good, especially if you pace yourself and vary what you have each night. Drinks were not brilliant to be fair. If you are a wine lover you won't like what they have to offer. it is truely awful. Cocktails are fun though and the fizz wasn't too bad either.

It was a good time to go as it was busy enough to have a goo atmosphere but there was no problem getting sunbeds, drinks at the bar etc. I imagine this would be a nightmare in high season.

We would definitely go again. It is great value for what it is.

Room Tip: Always upgrade to a superior - there is a big difference.
