My husband and myself stayed here for one week, in Aug for my husbands birthday. We stayed in the Adults only area, and the room was nice and spacious, bed looked huge until pulling back the top cover to reveal two single beds pushed together. The guy at the pool bar in the adults only area was quite rude and he made it feel like everything was too much trouble. On saying that all the other staff we encountered were very good and couldn't do enough, Lazarus, Emili, theano, and vasili excellent. Food was plenty but became a little boring towards the end of the week same things repeated and meal times were very busy. We attended the a la carte one night and that was enough !!! Weather was fabulous and I'm sure some people will enjoy a stay at La Marquise, but unfortunately I would not return to this hotel again, just not for me.

Dear Valued Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to post your impressions further your recent stay at La Marquise Hotel online. Rest assured that we have noted and relayed your feedback to the hotel management who always evaluate them at the end of the season.
Please note that if there is a particular member of staff that does not provide the service expected we would be most keen to know about it as a bad comment for a department can influence the rest of the employees of the hotel too, which sometimes is not fair or accurate.
Concerning your remarks about the main restaurant, as you can understand this is something that can occur in any hotel around the world during the very peak of the season and especially during peak service hours. As the second point mentioned, our main restaurant provides five thematic nights the week (International, Asian, Italian, Greek and Fish one) and regret you felt boring towards the end of your stay, still we are pleased to note the A La Carte was enough to you.
Yet, we thank you for your praises in regards to the adult only area, which was indeed a new concept introduced in our provided services and gladly received the best impressions from all our guests, as well as our friendly staff always striving to fulfill our dear guests needs.
For while, we feel sorry reading at the end of your review you wouldn’t come back and hopefully your decision was not based on one member of the pool bar only, we will remain at your disposition should you need our services in the future.
Respectfully,

We spent an excellent 10 days at the hotel in early August. Even though this is peak season it never felt crowded and the staff were very courteous and always had time to chat and help.
We liked the roof top pool which was always quiet but our 12 and 9 year old loved the connected pools which were a perfect depth all around.
The staff in the Gondola bar worked so hard but always had a smile and the lunch choices were good with a nice kids menu.
Buffets in the evening were good choices with themed evenings but always with a carvers and pasta for those who wanted it.
We used the Spa for a couple of treatments which were very thorough and great value.
Rhodes Town is well worth a trip as is hiring a car to see the south of the island where the beaches are empty and wild.
We did a 2 hours captain hook boat ride from the beach and that was lovely a small host with 2 stops for snorkelling and a chance to see the turquoise sea and fish.
We had a first floor family suite which was perfect I preferred to be up away from the pool edge although there did seem to be a lack of sun loungers some days if those with pool rooms took them onto their terrace. If that happened we went to the beachor the roof pool.
Try a cocktail in the terrace bar and the lobster evening in the Etoile Restaurant is well worth 35 euros.

Room Tip: If you have younger kids and want to be able to sit on your terrace and watch them in the pool ask for a ground floor pool view suite

You can't fault the staff here, always helpful, with a smile on their faces. The room was as per brochure and they even put us next door to our sons' room which I'd requested of them via email.
The main restaurant food was good, and we always got a table whatever time we turned up with waiter service for drinks. It could be improved by having more different restaurants, your 1 visit per stay option is the Gondola which is the pool bar by day, still nice, the fancy roof top restaurant L'Etoile is extra although we did do the Lobster night and it was fab, they even let the children eat free as they weren't partial to lobster.

The numerous pools all linked by bridges mean that you don't get that chaos of people all crammed round 1 massive pool. The beach is only a short walk away if you want to vary it.

Would recommend George's Glassbottom Boat 1 hour trip, 10e per person is good value. The Waterpark is also only up the road. Also the Kalithea Spring is only 8e in a taxi and good for snorkelling.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms that only have 1 floor, our double rooms were 2048 and 2049 and with no one above us we got less disturbance than our friends in family rooms with folk above them.

From the moment you walk into reception, you know you are in a luxury 5 star hotel. The reception staff (Christina/Nicole/Savvas) are excellent as is Mr Tattis the Rooms Division Manager who was there to greet us and ensure everything was ok on arrival. The perfect start to the perfect holiday.

The rooms are of the highest standard and the swimming pools are excellent as they are cleaned using oxygen and salt not chlorine like most other hotels.

The restaurants provide the highest quality food which is astonishing considering the number of people being served at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The maitre' d Mr Nikos Sfakianakis is quite simply the best in this role I have ever experienced in 20 years of travelling and this flows down to his excellent Captain Voulla and every one of his chefs and waiting staff. Bravo!!

The Gondola Bar is also expertly run by the charismatic captain Dimitris and the excellent Nikos the barman.

Overall a fantastic hotel where the service and quality is 1st class. Congratulations to Mr Karayannis and all the management. We will certainly be returning to La Marquise!!!

Room Tip: Rooms by the Gondola bar are great for young families (whilst pool only 1mtre deep, armbands to be worn at all times for non swiming young children). For a quieter, more relaxing time, rooms by the rooftop pool are recommended.

We are currently staying in a family suite at La Marquise. The resort is generally very good for a family holiday. Kids are well catered for and welcomed and the resort is well maintained. Staff are very friendly and the overall impression of the place is positive and fresh. The room is very comfortable and well laid out.

However we do not consider it to be a 5* hotel, for a number of reasons. The provision in the room of things like toiletries and tea/coffee is woeful. The toiletries are basic and shower gel is simply a dispenser on the wall. There is no shower cap, tissues or sewing kit. The mini bar is empty save for a bottle of water.

As other reviewers have reported there is no wifi in the rooms which is poor for a hotel that styles itself as "luxury". Also as other reviewers have said, there is a lack of sunbeds. People with ground floor rooms simply leave their things on chairs outside their rooms or - worse - bring the loungers onto their patios overnight so those with rooms upstairs (like us) find it hard to find beds. We complained about this to reception to be told there was little they could do but they would put out extra loungers. None have appeared. And the management could easily tackle this by removing belongings from chairs at the end if the day, but they choose not to do so. A real let down. There is no waiter service at the poolside which you would expect to find in a 5* hotel, and certainly no cold towels. No pool maintenance or supervision is in evidence at all.

Food is fine - a bit repetitive and not great for vegetarians but reasonable. We have not yet tried the a la carte restaurant though we intend to. We are booked B&B so that we are not tied to eating at the hotel and are glad of this.

Finally the kids club is a bit of a let down. They do not tell you beforehand but they do not allow you to drop off kids under 4. The place is staffed by a couple of girls who look no older than 18 or 19 so I wouldn't want to leave my 2 yo with them anyway but it would have been good to know the score before we came as we chose the hotel at least partly so the kids could go off and have fun without us. There is no kids club after 5 pm which seems a bit early for it to close.

Overall we are enjoying our time here. It is very relaxing and great for a sun holiday with small children. However it is not a 5* resort and - given that - is expensive for what you get. I would recommend it with caution - ask for a ground floor room, know that small children won't be looked after during the day and if you are vegetarian I would suggest B&B rather than half board or all inclusive, so you can eat outside the hotel for variety.

Dear Valued Guest,
Thank you for sharing your experience whilst currently staying with us at La Marquise Hotel.
While we are happy to read that your overall impression of La Marquise is a very positive one we would still like to comment on certain issues raised.
Firstly we would like to assure you that that this resort has an official star rating of five stars awarded by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) and is featured as a five star hotel in every single tour operator brochure. Kindly note, tour operators have their own evaluations and ratings to prevent any shortfalls in standards from one country to another and choose very carefully which hotels to feature as proper five stars in their advertising material. We are very sorry to read that the standards offered were not in line with your expectations of a five star hotel.
Please note that the hotel uses several brands of toiletries and features different room amenities depending on the type of room chosen and felt sadden to read of your dissatisfaction to this regard. At this point we would also like to stress that we cherry pick all our suppliers and while we welcome your view on the toiletries provided we do not necessarily agree with the statement made.
The family suite is advertised to feature a mini fridge with the mini bar service to be on request and therefore can only apologize should the incorrect information was provided prior to your arrival to the hotel.
Provision of WiFi in rooms has only recently become such a popular amenity in resort hotels as opposed to city hotels and while we fully understand your frustration we would still like to note that there is a Free WiFi service at the lobby and unrestricted fast internet access via cable in all our rooms. Having said that, we are pleased to inform you that we are investigating on implementing this feature very soon.
As far as sun beds are concerned, we are aware that this issue can occur from time to time despite the hotel having adequate sun loungers. We would also like to add that our reception team informs guests upon check in that reserving sun beds with towels is not permitted however you do appreciate that the hotel staff cannot confiscate them as this would lead to confrontation. We do apologize for any inconvenience caused; as in all hotels around the world we can take an advisory stand on this matter and do expect from certain guests to have the appropriate respect towards others.
On a positive note, we would like to thank you for your kind comments in regards to the hotel’s cuisine; we carefully design all our menus so as to cater for everyone’s needs. We shall relay your suggestion of adding more variety for vegetarians to our Executive Chef for further evaluation.
Regarding the issue with Mini Club, please note that the hotel’s website clearly mentions that this department is opened 7 days the week for kids between 4 to 12 years old (under the facilities section) and felt sadden to read that this was not noticed prior to your arrival. As for the staff, please note that the ladies are fully trained on this job and can only apologize if their age gave you the wrong impression. We do not have any complaints in this department however and as you said at the beginning of your review: “Kids are well catered for and welcomed”.
Once again thank you very much for sharing your impression of La Marquise so far; we wish you a very enjoyable remaining of your holiday and would be very happy to have the pleasure to welcome you back next year.
Respectfully,
