I stayed at La Marquise from 23rd-30th June with my husband, 3 year old and young baby and had a wonderful time. This hotel is fairly new, I believe this summer is only it's second full season so there are still a few little issues that need to be addressed but for the most part we had a great time.

As we pulled into the driveway in our taxi, the building is very impressive. Unfortunately, our first impressions upon entering the hotel were not great. There were masses of people hanging around in the lobby, the receptionist (Nikol) was not friendly or helpful and as we stepped into the restaurant, there were again masses of people as you immediately entered who were very noisy and not paricularly well behaved. This hotel accepts BIG group bookings and this is what we witnessed within our first 10 minutes in the hotel (in reception and the restaurant). Large groups who completely take over and seem oblivious to any other guests are not what I expect in a five star hotel.

After grabbing a quick something to eat, the bellboy (Razvan) took us to our room, which was lovely. We had booked a family suite, which overlooked the pool. The bed was very comfy, two bathrooms, plenty of storage and lovely decor. Razvan was very helpful, explaining where things were and how things worked and was very sweet with our 3 year old. He was an instant hit with her and continued to be throughout our week! A nice touch was a bottle of wine, water and sandwiches as they were unsure of whether we would arrive in time for dinner.

The layout of this hotel where the rooms are set around the maze of pools is fabulous. If you have young children, this works brilliantly as you don't have to cart all of their toys, buggy etc etc to a main pool. They can also take any naps whilst you can lounge right outside the room, happy that they are safe. Please be careful as the pool edges are very slippy. My 3yr old came back covered in bruises where she fell so many times, I had several near misses and I saw lots of others nearly go over too!

We were all inclusive and felt that overall this was good value for money. We are not massive drinkers but it was nice to be able to enjoy a few drinks without facing a horiffic bill at the end of the week. The food however is an area that I personally feel needs some serious attention. The Da Vinci reastarant is where most meals are taken - the amount is plentiful but there is very little variety and the quality of meat was not great, it seemed very processed and cheap to me. If you are used to what I would call "real" 5 star hotels, then this food will disappoint. The majority of staff are wonderful, yet there are a few that completely let the rest down. On our second night we waited for half an hour for some ice, plates were not cleared, tables were left a complete mess and drinks that were ordered were completely forgotten. There are certain members of staff that deserve a mention: Yiannis, Konstantina, Christina, Alexandra, Nelu and Julian were all wonderful. Yiannis (Maitre D') was lovely with our daughter and Nelu and Julian who are both Romanian were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble, they were very attentive and again spoiled our children rotten. The hotel is very lucky to have members of staff such as these two guys as they are multi-lingual, intelligent young men with a great work ethic who really honestly are above waiting tables.

The gondola pool bar was great. Nice setting, much better food (but you have to pay for this) and nice staff. Dimitrius and Giorgios were great, again our daughter took a real shine to them! L'Etoile is the a la carte restaurant where you are entitled to one meal as part of your stay. The setting, service and above all food were exquisite. I would have expected more choice, there are two set menus but this wasn't a problem for us.

There is a kids' club next to the baby pool, which was good. Our 3 yr old went there most mmornings and enjoyed it. The hotel doesn't pitch itself as a family hotel but as suitable for families. I think that they could do with adding to the childrens' activities, for example a kids' disco. I appreciate that it can be very hard for a hotel to keep all of its guests happy but I think they could enhance what's available to the children without it negatively impacting on adult guests, for example holding a disco in the kids' club.

I had my birthday whilst on holiday and was surprised with a lovely birthday cake and a discount voucher for a spa treatment. I had a facial in the spa, which was great and the prices there are actually very reasonable for a 5* hotel. I would really recommend anyone coming here to treat themselves

So, to summarise - we had a great time here. The staff really are great (mostly!), the decor is stunning, everything is very clean, the kids are reasonably catered for but I think that this hotel will be really good in another year or two. They need to stop the group bookings as it really cheapens and devalues their product, and look at food. I would suggest that a certain amount of meals can be taken at the pool bar as part of the AI package or that they should add another restaurant with a different theme. At the managers' cocktail evening, I am pleased to say that the general manager (Michael) certainly seemed to want to hear our views and so I really do believe that if they continue to listen and make the necessary changes, that in no time at all, we will return and then rate it 5*

Room Tip: Ground floor facing pool , near but away from main building.

Dear valued guest,
First of all, we would like to thank you for having taken the time to submit your impressions about your recent vacations at La Marquise Hotel on Tripadvisor site. We were delighted to note that overall you had a wonderful time in our hotel.
Please rest assured that it is with all seriousness that we take our clients remarks into consideration, in order to put into place the necessary measures to improve on the defaults mentioned. Nevertheless, we are truly glad you appreciated the hotel facilities and its services. We will be more than happy to welcome you back in the soon future at La Marquise Hotel and have the possibility to prove to you we had been taken into great consideration your remarks and improved our product.

We have just returned from a seven night stay at the Marquise, firstly we never originally booked this hotel, but were moved here from a nearby hotel after a ‘booking’ issue.
The hotel is immaculate, everything still looking new and cared for, and overall we felt we had won a little lottery getting reassigned to here.
Accommodation is excellent, a well laid out hotel complex, and we had a lovely poolside room which meant no worries about securing a sun bed for the day. The rooms were great, and cleaned daily, and are only downside was the AC not working correctly, twice an engineer came to bang away for 5 minutes then announce the unit was fine, but the point that it should be chilling and not just a 3 speed fan unit was lost in translation.
Food was always plentiful and good quality, and there were plenty of choices to select from. The hotel also has an a’la carte restaurant which we visited once, and the meal was excellent. Overall, the single main restaurant is a minor observation, and there could be an improvement with additional themed restaurants’.
Entertainment was weak during our stay, and we felt that it was just the wrong side of the full season kicking off, that entertainment was not greatly promoted all week. With the Euro 2012 Football championship in full swing, a larger tv in the bar vicinity would have been a thought. The bars are well stocked, and we enjoyed the ‘local’ all inclusive beverages but still sampled the additional cost ones. The only minor complaint is that the all inclusive window closed at midnight!
Staff were helpful and there seemed to be a great cross section of nationalities that made for some great conversations.
Location is on the coast between Rhodes and Falaraki, and we managed to visit both during our stay, to sample alternate spheres of the holiday experience 
A fantastic 5 star hotel, highly recommended.

Room Tip: Try and secure a ground floor poolside room.

Room

Great room, huge TV but issues. The safe and hairdryer did not work correctly, 3 days to fix this was annoying, as was the fact there was no hot water in the room for 3 of our 12 days. Lovely and new though.

Food - Main Restaurant

Not great quality food, 3* to be fair (I'm a foody, appreciate others are cool with what they have to offer). A lot of fried things and processed bacon for breakfast, yuk, not real bacon?! Meat is poor quality all around, nevertheless, a nice selection and certainly acceptable. Service was OK, not speedy but OK.

Food - A La Carte

Great quality, stunning service. No faults here, except 'A La Carte' would suggest a multiple choice restaurant, sadly there is only a choice of 1 of 2 menus.

Entertainment

Erm, ok I guess. The chap on the piano needs to find a new job, I'm sorry. Roof bar a little windy for entertainment, needs shelter. Acts were ok if drunk, but not overly entertaining.

Bars & Service

Overall, excellent, great drinks selection, friendly staff and happy clients. All I would say, is the maintenance service was a nightmare.

Summery

Hotel is great, food is OK and service is excellent. Avoid in high-season as I can see issues with service etc when busy (as the hotel ages, this will become more evident). Hotel great for couples, no good for a family or party holiday (although kids facilities).

What would I change

MUCH bigger TV needed in bar for watching the football, come on, it's not for everyone but plenty of other areas to go if not watching.

MUCH faster service needed when room issues - reception need to be hot on this.

Food needs to be sorted in the main restaurant, I'm afraid it is not 5* (Well, maybe the desserts). Fresher, better quality meat, fresh veg (Not frozen carrots, peas, sweet corn...come on).

Would stay again if slight improvements made.

Room Tip: Pool view room, ALWAYS.

When I saw that this hotel proposed special diet food, I must admit I was somewhat skeptical about really getting some gluten-free products for my husband.
The truth is that reality surpassed our expectations! The Maître d'hôtel, Nikos Sfakaniakis, really enjoyed bringing gluten-free and lactose-free food to my husband. This really made our holidays very nice and we always felt very comfortable. Nikos ensured that my husband would get appropriate and nice food at all times. He did this with kindness and a big smile, the Greek way of taking care of people! Nikos ensured that my husband would get every day a nice surprise.
So, you will be definitely well looked after, if you choose to go there, you will love it !

Having just returned from a 10 day all inclusive holiday at this hotel, I must recommend it fully.
From the first moment of arrival until the final moments, the staff could not have been nicer. They were all very friendly and efficient making you feel part of the family. The complex is spotlessly clean and has everything you could want. Our room was very large with an enormous balcony, comfortable bed and always spotlessly clean. The food in the main restaurant was excellent, but when you dine in the A La Carte restaurant you will be blown away. I can honestly say I have never tasted food like it. The swimming pools were very well designed so that they were never too crowded and there were always sunbeds available. The entertainment staff were fun and welcomed you to take part. Water Gym was great. This is a first class hotel run by a first class team of people. I will definitely go back.
