The Kresten Royal Villas & Spa
Ranked #7 of 20 Hotels in Kallithea
Reviewed May 29, 2014

I travelled with a friend (female) for a relaxing all inclusive week at the Kresten Royal Villas & Spa at the beginning of May. We loved it!

When we checked in we were driven in a golf buggy down to our room (404) which was overlooking the bottom pool and the sea. From the small terrace you could actually hear the sea which we both loved.

The room had a bathroom with power shower and jacuzzi bath, clean and free from any mould. The towels are not the best I've had but they were adequate. The room was very clean with: 2 beds; a sofa, coffee table and chair; TV; fridge with water; kettle and coffee/tea. The terrace had a cast iron table and 2 chairs. Curtains included a wonderful mosquito screen that allowed fresh air in but no bugs. Wardrobe space was fine and we had 6 hangers each. The beds are a little hard but I like that so was comfortable.

The bottom pool bar doubles up as the Greek a la carte which we enjoyed twice during our stay, the food being OK but the views wonderful. We also had a late breakfast there several mornings and enjoyed the greek specialities. On arriving at the beach bar we asked for sparkling white wine and were pleasantly surprised to see a bottle of Prosecco opened which was lovely. I must admit that drinks were a little hit and miss but mostly owing to the bar staff making them and not the ingredients. HOWEVER, they were proper drinks served with ice, cream and fruit if appropriate.

Cold water is served automatically in the main dining room and we were very pleased with the quality of the red and white wine. I have only stayed AI once before - in Egypt - the wine was undrinkable, here it was actually quite good. The food there was very good with an amazing choice, we both loved the greek food and enjoyed the salads, cheeses and fish. We also ate twice at the Italian a la carte and enjoyed our meals there too, the bar adjacent to this restaurant became our favourite.

The weather let us down with 4 days of rain out of 7 but we took a taxi into Rhodes (12 euros from the hotel there, 9 euros back). Rhodes old town is amazing and well worth the trip.

We had excellent service from all the staff, the girls on reception and head waitress in the Italian restaurant being particularly helpful and friendly. All in all we would both recommend the hotel for a relaxing break, or if you want to drive - a good base to explore.

σας ευχαριστώ to all the staff for making us welcome.

What a gorgeous hotel - really well designed. Highly professional staff from the receptionists to the waiters, bar staff and cleaners, all of whom speak at least basic English & appreciate a few words in Greek back!
We stayed in a Royal Suite which had its own large pool (I guess 6.5m x 5m) and sizeable terrace - great size rooms too (I guess c90sqm). Overlooked the sea - beautiful view.
Excellent food & hospitality - everything was freshly cooked and there was lots of it. I'm a vegatarian & could vary my meal every day.
There is no beach, but there are 3 or 4 large pool areas which are all very nice. Oh, don't expect any entertainment - there was a quiz in the main bar 2 nights, but we didn't need any more than that.
We like very nice places & this didn't disappoint - we would definitely return. Go, you'll love it!

Room Tip: I think all rooms face the sea - it's a large hotel without the feel of some large hotels - I th...

We have just spent two weeks at this hotel and had a brilliant time. The staff on the desk were very friendly and welcoming and prompt in checking us in. The food was wonderful (the desserts were to die for!!) We were upgraded to a Suite with our own pool overlooking the sea, which was a wonderful surprise. We found all the staff to be very friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble. This is a lovely hotel to relax and chill out!! Although there is no where to go for a quite walk in the evenings, but Rhodes old town is only a half an hour bus ride away. All areas were kept immaculate and the staff very hard working. The bathroom towels were a bit small and some of them were worn, but they were changed every day. The nearest ATM machine is about a mile walk and located in the grounds of another hotel. We were a bit disappointed that you had to pay extra if you wanted to use the Jacuzzi and steam rooms in the Spa. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely go back again.

We are still at this hotel waiting for a taxi to the airport. As far as AI hotels go this was very good. The views are stunning, the public areas and pools are immaculate. The drinks are first class. The food was fine, always something to enjoy. The staff are all great, work hard and very helpful and polite.nothing in the area to walk to so it does mean a taxi into rhodes town, which could be expensive. However, I would recommend this hotel as a lovely base, for an enjoyable and relaxing holiday. No holiday will suit everyone, but there is nothing at this hotel you could complain about.

Room Tip: All rooms have a sea view, so don't think it would be worth paying extra for a superior sea view...

I loved the hotel it's self.some of the staff were pleasant, the bar staff in the main reception were fab, there was no entertainment until June we went in May.the food was very repetitive and greasy.the rooms were very clean.you had to catch a bus or taxi to Rhodes or go on trips to see other places.the last two days I could smell a sewage farm which made me feel sick,it's not close to the hotel but still a strong smell cause of the wind.as I said lovely hotel but won't go back x

Having just spent a week at the hotel, I cannot understand why people are putting negative comments on this site about it. We arrived 14/5/14 around 9 pm. The staff on the desk were prompt in checking us in and we went straight to dinner, at that time of night we were apprehensive as to the type of meal we would get, and were pleasantly surprised to be able to get a hot 3 course meal on hot plates. The hotel was immaculately clean throughout including the areas around the many pools, and all the public facilities. In the main restaurant there was an excellent choice of food, although at the pool restaurant the lunches were limited in choice. Please note that the total area of the main restaurant including outside on the patio is non - smoking I congratulate the management on that policy, the pool restaurant does allow it. The rooms were huge and all appeared to have sea views. The hotel has courtesy rooms available for 30 mins, these were small but then you were only having a shower before getting changed for departure. If anything let the hotel down I would say that the white towels in the rooms had a grey tinge, but then an independent laundry was contracted to wash them. And the evening entertainment needed reviewing, but then it is early in the season and experience does say that this improves as the season goes on. The staff were brilliant, friendly and hard working. Would we go back to the hotel, I would say yes.
