We had an excellent stay 9th to 23rd July in a Junior villa suite with pool; this was a complimentary upgrade from our "superior twin" as booked! The Hotel standards are 5 star as compared to other Greece locations. We have stayed in Athens, Cyprus, all Parts of Halkidiki and Kos; so this is not an arbitrary comment. Being a couple in our 50's and now child free it ticked all our boxes, vast open plan areas internally and externally. Landscaped grounds edging on the sea, no roads to cross or adjacent to hotel. Simple rough beach ideal for snorkelling with crystal clear water. Many areas to sit in and relax without crowds. The large pool has no music so is superb with the sound of the sea nearby. Unlimited soft drinks and alcohol during the day and at meal times. The food is extensive and Greek cuisine mainly, not so good for the vegetarian. If you have travelled in Greece the food here is high standard. Air conditioning in the restaurant at all times and there is outside eating as an option, but beware smoking is permitted in the outside areas. The staff are brilliant and helpful. Hire cars, make sure you compare UK pre order with locally available. Public busess stop nearby, 8 minute walk. E1.80 to Faliraki and E2.0 to Rhodes, operate every 20 minutes 07.10 - 0100. Busses are air conditioned and efficient.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet location not overlooking the pool or restaurant if you are in the main building

We stayed at the hotel for a 3 nights weekend vacation. The hotel is still very new, and as a result it's far from full capacity, which was wonderful. The rooms are very spacious, and generously decorated with multiple sofas and chairs. The bathroom has everything one might expect and even a jacuzzi (Although we didn't use it :).
We were on an "all-inclusive" package, and although it's apparently optional, it seemed as if all guests were all-inclusive as well. The resort serves 3 main meals a day, with extra "snack" meals almost throughout the day time. The only dissapointing issue with the vacation was the quality of food and drinks... Being all inclusive is nice, but if alcohol is of the poorest kind it reneders it nearly useless.. we tried a couple of "cocktails" only to find out we better stick to water and beer. Coffee (espresso) was average at best. The food was just ok at times and bordering on un-eatable at others, so we learned that if a tasty dish is served for lunch, we better pile up on that cause dinner might leave us hungry. All in all a very nice hotel, that has to improve on culinary :)

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your nice comments and also for the comments pointing some services that unfortunately didn’t meet your standards. We hope that we will have the chance to welcome you again in our hotel in order for you to see that most of the issues stated here are already fixed (food & drinks quality and food variation) and will be even more upgraded for 2012 season.

Best wishes,

The hotel has no bell boys, no welcome drink, no segregation of families from couples when allocating rooms (how would you like a crying baby above you!!), terrible food which is always cold, no chefs to cook eggs etc, no entertainment if you are over 10, restaurant is a Zoo, staff try hard, Vasilis at the pool bar is the entertainment!! If you are looking for a luxury holiday Don't Go Here!! The other reviewers do not know what a real 5* hotel is!! Sovereign made a big mistake putting this in their brochure as 5*. We just arrived home after a week from 22 June - dreadful.

Dear Guest,

We are very sorry to read that our hotel failed to meet your needs in so many aspects during your holidays. We understand that holidays are a very important part of the whole year and we are deeply sorry that you didn’t enjoy them even though we are happy to hear your mentioning that our staff is trying hard. Although here in Greece resort hotels might be different from what you might have already experienced and expected during your stay, in many ways such as operation and pricing, we have already taken your comments into deep consideration and issues stated like food, show cooking & entertainment after some changes are already in a much better state according to the current feedback we have from our clients and will be even better with the programmed changes due to start in 2012 season. Should you choose to return to Rhodes we would hope that we will have another chance to welcome you and to offer you a better product that will hopefully meet your standards with the same amount of hard trying from our staff. Once more we would like to thank you for your valuable comments and apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Best wishes,

We stayed at this beautiful hotel 10 nights, from 14 to 24 of June 2011, having probably the best 4 rooms we could imagine (number 915-921): near the second pool, with an exquisite view over the sea (see photos attached), and close to the bar which in the evening became "greek restaurant". The rooms were very large, nice and clean, also the public spaces, huge, marble and high quality materials everywhere.
I have to mention it: the staff was very polite and friendly, as the manager Michaelis, Nina and Elpida from the bar of the second pool, also the very efficient girl from the lobby bar (with long brown hair) who worked so hard, taking orders from all tables outside, preparing herself all the drinks, serving all the clients, being extremely polite and modest.
It should have been perfect, BUT there were some problems, such as:
1) -In the main restaurant, besides the food very repetitive and rather poor, there were flies everywhere, flies sitting on the plates, on the food! Every single day, the flies on the food, even we complained to the manager about it, from the beginning!
The waiters waited until the last piece of food disappeared from a plate, to replace it! It looked like they tried hard to make savings from everything!
2)- There was no entertainment! The so called "animation team" was hilarious! In fact there were 3 French girls improvising ridiculously, without any ability, in the smallest amphitheatre ever seen or in the strangest pool ever (the second pool, with such unusual dimensions, starting from 25 cm...), or elsewhere..
3)- For those who love sandy beaches, look for an alternative! There is no such a thing, only stones, lot of stones on a small place and suddenly very deep water. No beach!
4)-There is no room service and no minibar in the rooms; except the first day, they don’t provide at least a bottle of water daily.
5)- The floor around the second pool and the bar nearby was really dirty; in 10 days they didn’t washed properly these areas not even once!
6)- Free internet is available, but only in the lobby, where is no air condition! in the room, after complaining daily and reception promised every time solving the problem, nothing was settled in 10 days.
In conclusion, it looks like the investors of this hotel began with big expectations, finished by loosing interest or money and the main directive for the staff was: make savings of everything you can!
They need to hire more personnel, to offer better services, to spend more for improving the quality of food and entertainment, in order to became the best 5* hotel in Rhodes.
It would be such a pity not to do it, having all this beautiful base and surroundings…maybe some investors could be found and necessary changes will be made..

Room Tip: Choose rooms near second pool, best bar, nice view

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank you for your nice comments and for your precious time taken in order to point out some aspects of your stay that failed to meet your needs. We are really sorry to learn that some aspects during your stay were preventing you from enjoying your holidays as much as you would like to, but we are also happy to hear that you liked our rooms, their view, size and cleanliness as well as your mentioning that our staff was very “polite and friendly”. We would like to see together the issues that you stated and be rest assured that your comments were taken at that time into deep consideration. More detailed:

1) The food program is totally changed. The flies’ problem was something unexpected and is now solved even for places outside. About the waiters, in all honesty, we would like to point that due to our first year of operation and without All Inclusive experience, as our already existing “sister” hotel Kresten Palace is on a Half Board basis, it takes a bit of time to fine tune situations and pass from the daily training to the “highly trained” level towards our staff and of course towards our guests.

2) About the animation, we would like to point that we have initially taken a more modest approach to the animation of our clients until the clientele mix was to be unveiled. We then made some small changes and there will be a whole new approach for the 2012 season.

3) We cannot tell if you have visited the common beach that we have common with Kresten Palace which is sandy with small pebbles or if you have only visited the “opening” to the sea also available to our guests. If that is the case I would like to apologize for the lack of information in that matter from our personnel.

4) Room service & minibar is an issue we are working at with both cases already in our “2012 package”

5) Housekeeping is also a team which needed a proper amount of time in order to fine tune and come to the level needed during operation and everything is fixed now according to our current guests’ feedback.

6) There are now WI-FI spots in all common areas of the hotel including pools, conference, courts and etc.
We have also in the previous two weeks managed to stabilize our internet network and is now working properly also in the rooms. We understand that Internet was a very big issue from the begging until almost now but be rest assured that when you complain at the reception all the necessary measures are taken although at some points we are depending on external technicians and providers which may cause a delay.

In order to conclude most of the very early and early problems of our newly operating hotel are already addressed and we are planning to make them even better along with also other aspects of our operations. We would like to thank you again for your precious feedback and we hope that next time that you will visit us you will say that it did became the best 5* hotel in Rhodes.

Best wishes,

“Your” Kresten Royal Management Team
